I have 2 Rottweilers, 1 German Shepherds (he is my 3rd though) and a Dobie mix. They are all the best dogs I could ask for. I am a true believer in it's not the breed it's the deed and that any dog if not raised properly can be mean.

I have a doberman and a boxer, both females. My doberman is almost 2, & she is so sweet! She is a lap dog, and a constant companion for me. Nothing mean about her. I will never own any other breed. My boxer was sort of dumped on me, bad as that sounds, but she is 8, and also a big, cuddly baby. Both are extremely well behaved, but i do believe that dobermans are a more intelligent breed, especially as far as thinking and acting on their own goes. my best friend has had 2 rottweilers in the 11 years i have known her, 1 for the last 10 of them. Both were about 10 years old when they had to be put down, due to several health problems (hip/joints got so bad they couldn't walk anymore). But they were the friendliest animals. I had a friend w/a guard dog that was chained up for the 1st 4 years of her life, until he got her. She was wary of people and scared me a few times just by the way she watched me, but he went to prison a few years later, & by that time, she was an absolute joy to have around, so she moved in w/me until his grandma could come get her. Smart, smart dogs. If I had to pick a breed other than a doberman, it would be a rottweiler, for sure. Pit bulls, I say it is the owners creating the bad dogs, and possibly instinct that just can't be totally bred out of them, but can easily be dealt w/by good training. All dogs are bred for a reason, but you would never think boxers were fighting dogs by meeting mine! I believe it's all in the owners, that any dog can bite or kill. Maybe we just don't hear the stories about a kid getting attacked by a chihuahua, scottish terrier or other less "dangerous" breeds. I have been bitten by a weiner dog, and a pomeranian. But nobody is gonna call the police or animal control to have them put down, as they most likely would if it were a dobie, rottweiler, etc. It's unfair, to say the least.

I have a hard time to believe that elected and appointed officials have nothing better to do than to try and keep up with the Jones'es with their breed specific legislation. I think it is about as appropriate as "imminent domain" where the city or state can decide to take people's properties away because they want to build a library or a hotel or even a toll road.
If people don't speak out and get active, this legislation will continue to be passed and many dog breeds will suffer. People will be separated from their pets! Friendly and well socialized and trained pets will have to wear muzzles and tags that say they are "dangerous dogs" and their owners will have to buy insurance they might not be able to afford, or be forced to give up their dogs to be killed.
Then the next wave of identified dogs will take place. It's wrong, and it is a world wide trend. Kind of cult like if you ask me. I have an Am Staff mix and she is a teddy bear. She is great with kids, trained and socialized and I had her from two and a half weeks old. Her mother gave birth to 14 puppies and the people were taking the pups to the pound where they would have been exterminated just because of the breed they looked like and were mixed with.
I grew up around German Shepherd dogs, my cousin bred them and trained them and her dogs were the sweetest! I've had a few Shepherds myself and now I have three rescues, only one could potentially be labelled a "dangerous dog" then I might have thirty days to turn her into a pound to be euthanized or move.
How can we fight for other people's supposed freedom when people with lots of money want to legislate what dogs we can own? That's insane.

I have had German Shepards all my life. I've had a rottweiler, pit bulls, and even a Rottweiler/Pit Bull mix. They were all the sweetest dogs! My Rott/Pitt mix was actually used to train fighting pit bulls, and one of the pitts me and my fiancee had was a fighting pit(he ran away and we took him in). And even though they were used as fighting dogs, they were the gentlest dogs! I personally have never had problems with them. It's all in the way that the dogs are treated. I have actually had more problems with labs and retrievers (the dogs normally thought of as the sweet family dog) than I have any of those "dangerous" breeds. I don't believe that any breed is dangerous on it's own. It all depends on how the dog is treated and trained. I hate that people discriminate against certain breeds just because they only hear the bad stuff about them!!

I love all dogs and I have no problem with them. Pitts get treated very bad and its jsut because of there breed im 13 and im a volunteer at the SPCA and there are so many pitts there and other dogs but mainly pitbulls. And the pits are usally the sweetest dogs. Its just that people use these dogs for fighting because they are the strongest and becuause pits(i think) when they bite they lock it were they wont let go . But the only diffrence is that some people use them for fighting because they are stornger, so people think they are bad. Guess what type of breeds bites kids the most- little dogs they are smaller and cant handle playing ruff so they get mad and may bite the kid. other dogs do that to its justa higher chance. Anyways I got pissed the other day when i was at the spca and there was this lady with her husband and there was a pit and he was like aww to the pit and shes like " NO i dont wasnt a pit ever!" and that made me mad because people mistake these "dangerous dogs".

I do not think it is the breed of dog that is dangerous, but the persons raising the dog, and in some circumstances the reason they are being taught. I have a huge dog that weighs around 125-150, and has never attempted any agressive actions toward me or anyone else (that includes the 3cats he was raised with. On the other hand, I just got alil Chichuaha, that I am looking over my shoulder for, because she was left outside by her former owners to fend for herself

In my opinion, ther is no such thing as a "dangerous Breed"! That would be like saying that all Polish People are dangerous or something. It's crazy. Some breeds are more protective than others, but what no one is saying is the dog that is most likely to bite is probably a chihuahua or yorkshire terrier. the problem is not the breed, it is the individual dogs and the people who make them mean. Animals are not born mean, their brains don't work that way. The enviroment and treatment growing up are the contributing factors. NOT the Breed.

My mother has a dobie and shepard mixed and the dog is a very loving dog. I have no problems with the dog at all. I like all breeds of dogs. All those breeds are great dogs to have around. I have friends that have these kind of dogs around and they are the sweetest dogs. The dog follows me all over the house and if she hears anything outside she always gets me to look out the peep hole that we have on the door. If I say where is your mother she will walk me to where my mother is and then she will give me a high five. She will put her paw in my hand. It is who owns the dog and how they care for the dog and if they give them loving care.

I have two pits and a rottie. I absolutely love these breeds. All of my dogs are people friendly and cat safe. They are wonderful, indoor doggies who just want to be cuddled, and they were all rescue dogs from the shelter. I walk them daily and its weird that some ppl give me weird looks and kinds stay away. I always tell people that they can pet my dogs because I know they wont hurt anybody or anything. Some of them do and them realize that they were being stupid but others wont. Its just so sad that these dogs get such a bad name when its the humans fault. Dogs aren't born mean they were trained to be mean.
So personally I love these so called "dangerous breeds," not because they are dangerous but showing people how lovable they are. Yes, some are dangerous, but not all. I looked up the temperament testing they did on dogs and it was pretty cool to see that pits passed higher than golden retrievers!!! That will shut he ppl who dont like pits up.... ill give u the site..

There is nothing wrong with any of the so called "dangerous breeds" except for the irresponsible people who own them.
I own two German Shepherd Dogs and both are registered therapy dogs with TDI, we go to nursing homes and hospitals to visit with sick children and the elderly and we put on a little show. We also compete in obedience so they are well trained and socialized but people still cross the street and I still hear crap when walking them in my neighborhood. The amount of ignorance about certain breeds of dogs is staggering.
BLAME THE DEED NOT THE BREED!!!!
