Can a dog become impregnated by the DNA from more than one dog ?

Ok Ihave a female. There are two males. Carebear
is Black and White and Snow bear is white.
Mommy is white. The pups look like both males.
Can they be offspring of both males?

Dogs are multiple follicle ovulators because they are a litter bearing specie. If a female dog is bred by two male dogs right before she ovulates those follicles then you do have a chance of having a litter with two different dads.

Dogs are not impregnated by DNA, they are impregnated by sperm. The sperm carries the DNA of the father dog.

But yes, one ***** can be impregnated by two or more different dogs and can have multiple pups in one litter by different fathers.

Please have your female spayed as soon as possible after the puppies are weaned! Your males should be neutered, too! The female will be kept constantly pregnant by the guys and that is not good on her, and among other things, increases the risk of mammary cancers. The males are more likely to roam, to spray and mark the house, etc.

absolutely, IF both dogs locked with her during her fertile days, she can have pups from both males.. and a third and fourth if she was not watched and locked with that many. Good idea to keep your female separated and only allow her to breed with one male per cycle. haha.
With the fact that the colouring is black and white .. and white like the female doesn't mean she bred with both either. My male is black and white... my female is white... the pups are often tri-colour .. or any mix of browns blacks and white... last litter one was solid black... litter before one solid white.. the rest were tri-colours... she has even had a brindle. background means a lot too.

This can go either way. It is possible that one of the males has genes for both colors. However it is also possible that both males bred the female while she was in heat. Since females can be bred for several days, any male that mates with her in that time can theoretically be a father to some of the puppies. If they bred her at very close time intervals, it is even possible that the puppies were in essence one litter, ie. all born at the same time.

The female can give birth to as many fathers as she breeds with though she won't necessarily have one from each. Color does not necessarily indicate which dog is the father. You could get DNA testing for all your dogs and the puppies and see which one is the father of which pups but that would be very expensive. You might get a surprise, too.

Yes! a female dog can have many different fathers in a litter. I had a friend adopt a stray dog that had been mounted by every dog in her neighbor hood. It was a collie mix that had 11 puppies and they looked any thing from a Basset to collie to labs. They drop multiple eggs at a time and what ever sperm makes the swim can possibly win!

When an animal that can have multiple live births ovulates, she releases several eggs. If she mates with several males it is very possible for each of the offspring to have different fathers. It just depends on which sperm reaches the egg first. One egg can be fertilized by the sperm from one male and another egg fertilized by the sperm from a different male. Yes, quite possible. SInce most dogs, likewise cats, rabbits,e tc....tend to give birth to litters, they ovulate multiple eggs which are subject to fertilization. If the female is mated with multiple males, she can give birth to offspring fathered by multiple fathers.

Re the response given about the posibililty of a human female giving birth to babies by different fathers. If a woman ovulates multiple eggs....producing twins, triplets, etc, from multiple eggs (fraternal twins, triplets, etc), and has sexual relations with multiple partners, she may indeed have children who have different fathers. Yes, this has occured. Not often, but it does happen. Obviously this would not be possible if the babies were the result of a single egg spliting to form identical twins, trips, etc.

Yes of course. You can even have a mom who will have babies and then a few days later have more babies. Or some babies that were born last in the litter might be quite a bit smaller than the rest could have been concieved on a different day. Bitches are fertile for several days to a week making this possible for them to mate several times and have a few different fathers for their litter.
