Great area, we lived in Griffin for a few years... but spent a lot of time in McDonough and Stockbridge shopping and eating out and all. You still have easy access to Atanta as well. We enjoyed the Tanger Outlets there, and we ate at several of the reseraunts there frequently. The hospital there at Eagles Landing Parkway is great... our daughter was born there. There are a lot of housing options in the semi-rural areas off of hwy 42, most are very nice sub-divisions... but you get a little peace and quiet there since your back off of 75 and outside of town.
It's a beautiful area... we miss it terribly sometimes. Once you get settled there you won't want to leave!

Cobb County. cities like Kennesaw, or North Cobb, East Cobb, West Cobb (lost Mountain, Powder Springs, some factors of Smyrna, Austell, Vinings, Marietta). staggering faculties, stable place fashions - and nevertheless on the threshold of Atlanta. Emory is a good college (Grady and Crawford long hospitals). there is Morehouse college of medicine (Grady medical institution) and a historically black college. Macon has Mercer college which has an staggering medical college and is linked with Georgia Baptist medical institution in Atlanta. The medical college of medicine in Augusta (Eugene Talmadge Memorial medical institution in Augusta). Georgia State college, Georgia Southern in Statesboro and Kennesaw State all grant grasp's stages in Nursing. Dunwoody and Sandy Springs - not my in demand places (my father lived in Dunwoody for 35 years and that i lived in Sandy Springs till now it grew to become into integrated). you will locate stable faculties, however the variety element isn't some thing which will knock your socks off and what I call the "stepford element" is in complete play. i think of you will locate that there are undesirable crowds no rely the place you pass - even the tiniest cities have the climate you describe, your brother would desire to choose on his friends properly - and that's some thing you would be unable to do for him or preserve him against. i'm not keen on Henry and Gwinnett counties :P

Anything in the Eagles Landing is nice, its expensive but worth it. For a decent place you can expect to pay at least 1000.00 to 1200.00 a month in rent. The crime rate is not as bad as some of the other countries such as Gwenette or Dekalb. The traffic is terrible in Ga so prepare your self. If you can afford to come and stay for a couple of weeks first I would recommend it.

I know there are some really good private schools in the area, not sure about the public ones.
