They did after all invent the zero and the decimal. They had plumbing while the Europeans still threw their crap out on the streets. They were oppressed and decimated by both the white Spaniards and their mestizo descendants who tried to be white Spaniards. Their country was taken from them, their women raped and their children killed. And now other countries want to come and bleed their natural resources and still dare to pin the problems of their country on their emigrants? The least they deserve is a holiday.

Sure, I don't see any problem with that. However, Aztecs and Mayans must get in line, there are 500 nations of us American Indian tribes that paid for the USA with our blood and don't have a holiday.

Sure why not? But if we had a holiday for the Aztecs and Mayans, shouldn't we have a holiday for Cherokees, Seminoles, and all other Indian tribes? I mean, it's unfair that Mayans get their day and the other Indian tribes don't. They got their land stolen from them too....right???

I celebrate them on Cinco De Mayo, since it's a Mexican holiday, even though the history behind it has nothing to do with the Conquest.
ps-Don't forget that they discovered chocolate! They deserve a holiday for that alone!

Of course they should be given some credit. For some reason people always want to make them seem as nothing but savages, when in reality they contributed to many technologies. One perfect example of the stereotype is Mel Gibson's "Apocalypto."
