The eggs, rabbits, and so forth were formerly Pagan symbols, but were adopted by Christianity in its very early days. During that time, sometimes other customs were co-opted into Christianity, and it wasn't considered a major problem. It was just a continuation of local customs and rites. I'm Catholic, and learned these things in Catholic school. The holiday is thought to be named after the goddess, Eostre. Easter is also linked with the Jewish passover. Because of these facts, there are a few sects of Protestants who refuse to celebrate Easter. But despite its beginnings, Easter as we know it today is a rather Christianized holiday. No rational person would mistake a Christian Easter service for goddess-worship or Pagan rites. The main focus of Easter is the religious aspect, after all, and not the Easter egg hunt out on the lawn after services. The eggs themselves are said to represent the Resurrection because of the unseen life inside of them.

Nothing what so ever.

The Catholic church hundreds of years ago, in an attempt to pull people into the church combined Easter ( the celebration of Christ's rising from the dead) with pagan celebrations at the same time. The rabbit and eggs are all pagan symbols of sexuality and fertility and have nothing to do with Christ.

As for the word, I am not sure...

NOPE NOT AT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!! I surely hope the reason that you are asking this question is because you already knew the answer...Let's c.......the egg and the rabbit are strictly pagan in nature and it was used in the ancient as a symbol to the crops and the fertility of the ground to produce another good year of crops that usually had something to do with this time of year........The resurrection is not even what is most important..;......The [passover (Nisan 14) is the most important thing....(the death of Jesus Christ for all of us) when in the evening before his death Jesus had the "last supper" when he said break this bread and eat this represents my body and of the wine, drink this symbolizes my body.....he knew that he was about to charged with death and he said to his disciples "KEEP DOING THIS N REMEMBRANCE OF ME" he did not say when the women found him gone from his tomb do this and celebrate my resurrection.......to have sunrise services is not scriptural. but, to have however, a memorial which is what we do in the death of someone, is absolutely BEAUTIFUL......

Nothing at all. The Easter I recognize is the death & resurection of Jesus and it's the world that invented the Easter Bunny so that they could celibrate without Jesus.

Fertility, all of them are symbols of birth, and Easter is the Christian holiday of the re-birth (i.e. resurrection) of Christ.
