You're liable for paying child support regardless. Unless, you have signed papers giving up your right to that child. This may come back one day and bite you in the butt so be careful.

****Rather than name calling you may want to explain the ENTIRE situation clearly when posting a question such as this so you can get more indepth and sympathetic answers****Just a thought!

If you have a child and it's not being care for by you then yes you have to pay even without receiving government aid but if the mother or farther which ever have the child in there custody say you don't have to pay and they don't pursue it in court then you don't have to pay but keep in mind if the parent who has the child change there mind at any time the other parent will have to pay back child support as well as current or face having to come up with a bulk of money at a moments notice or face jail time. but you can choose to pay child support on your own by petitioning the courts and asking for partial custody and pay the support.

here is the bottom line. Are you PERSONALLY financially able to pay or aren't you? is it HONESTLY within your budget to pay for this child?

plz listen closely. For myself when i read your "question" the wording is confusing for me. Why? Because you say things like this:

"your child....",
"do i still need to pay child support?",
"....do you still have to pay child support?",

those 3 twists are interesting to say the least......

In this situation when it comes to "government funding" it becomes a situation regarding "our child(ren)". People don't seem to understand this concept and i find it rather sad.

I personally take on the responsibility of "others" chilrdren, no just my own, whenever i can, even if that means, giving my time or extra money, child support etc....i don't question it...if i a child is in need i find a way...i don't mean to sound rude but perhaps you might think about setting aside the "he said/she said" thing mk? The child is the focus and nothing more...this isn't about $$ if you really think about it...it is about love..

child support is payed for the child. yes, you still have to pay. it doesnt matter if they ar eon medicare or whatever. you must support them till the child is 18. if you go to court they will make you and set your amount. if you talk to the parents you can at least work your own amount in..they would never be able to take you to court like youre a dead beat dad. either give the money or buy some things that will help out your seed.

You need to pay child support because you want to help your child and you are responsible for the growth and development of your own children. You should want to pay because some day this child will know that you stood up and took responsibility and was a loving and supportive parent.

Child support isn't based on government aid; it's based on the cost of raising a child. In some states, you can have an agreement between parents that the parent who isn't caring for the child doesn't have to pay child support. Consult an attorney.

Hey! You created the child with no government aid, therefore, SUPPORT THE CHILD, no matter what the other parent says. I sure as hell don't want to have to support the kid even down the road as he/she starts needing medical care. I have my own kids that I pay for and no one else pays for them.

I don't care if you have to work at McDonalds, Burger King and White Castle all at the same time and get no sleep or social life. You YOU YOU YOU were responsible in having sex that led to conception that led to birth. I don't care if you are 13 or 60. You support that kid.

As that kid grows up, even if the other parent said you would not have to pay, the kid will resent you and have nothing to do with you. You think you will show up in his/her life on holidays to get a friggin hug to make YOU feel like a real parent? You wouldn't deserve it.

You're disgusting!

Hey, don't come back and judge those of us who give advice based on what you told us. See...already you cannot take responsibility for your mistakes. You grow up.

I can't believe you think marrying someone because you have a child will make a difference. You stated you weren't even paying child support. Now you will marry and be responsible for a wife AND child. You need your head examined and your wanger tied in a knot.

If you sire or give birth to a child and/or children, you shouldnt even be asking this question. Why ? Because, you and the one who helped to create this life or lives are the first ones responsible for the welfare of the children. Not the goverment and/or anyone else. If you cant or wont be responsible then get sterilised so that no more children get ****** up by being unwanted. And dont tell me that you wanted them. If you did then you would also want to take responsability for them by not only supporting them but also by showing them that you love them every freaking day.

you owe your child, child support until the child is 18....support is paid whether or not the child gets other money. (court ordered child support is an ORDER, not a maybe..)

Disgusting. Both parties need to go to the courts if you have been court ordered to pay.
