I'm 5'8", and am shaped like an upside down triangle--broad, but not overly broad shoulders, full chest(DDD), straight-wasted, narrow hips, long arms and legs. Of all the websites and magazines I've looked at, no one will tell you what looks good on someone with a full chest only what types of dresses to avoid(which seems like most of them!). What type would look the best for my figure?

I'm not scared to show a little(or a lot!) cleavage, I know what my best assets are, hehe. Anyone who knows me, knows that they will be seeing cleavage on my wedding day, some will not be happy about it, others will have to smack their significant others for looking and others will realize that it is just part of my personality and what makes me who I am. I'm mostly concerned about support--strapless bras really don't do it for me---any suggestions there?

OK, you know what you can't wear...strapless, or even halter styles, because they're just not going to give you enough support. You could go with a tank style dress if you want sleeveless, I'd reccommend a sweetheart or V neckline to show off SOME of that cleavage. Also, a fuller skirt, this will help balance your figure out, if you're wearing a ballgown skirt that's very full, it will help balance out your chest up top, and give you a little more in the hips as well. SHOW OFF THE waist though....go with a basque waist or a dropped waist. With the fuller skirt that will just make your waist look like it's disappeared into nothingness with your fuller bust.
Take a couple of bras with you shopping, you might even want to try a minimizer bra--I'm a DD, and that's what I did for my wedding. It worked really well. Also, don't be afraid to book an appointment at a bridal salon, and then ask the saleswomen what they think you should wear. They've dressed hundreds of brides, and know their inventory very well. If you find a good salon, you'll be fine and find the gown of your dreams! Best of luck to you!

Wow I completely disagree with Jennifer. I don't think either of those would begin to cover a DDD chest.
What you really need is something modest that covers the majority of that chest and gives support--so wide straps. But flows out from that--nothing that has that empire cut off drawing attention to the bust or a wrapping style. Either an A-line or a low/natural waist. That draws attention more to the waist and hips. Sweetheart neckline or a halter with a narrow V so that the exposed chest is minimal.
Big hips don't matter as most dresses flair out anyway. Most have a corset boning that has a minimizing effect. So just try on some things that don't show an inappropriate (in a church) amount of clevage that will shock your guests with wide straps and wear a minimizing bra with it and you should be fine.
Perhaps something a lil less formal with a unique hemline (like the ^ hem that shows some of the leg) will take the attention off the chest.

Okay so obviously strapless isn't going to work. The book i have suggests for full bust: to minimize a large bust draw attention downwards with a slightly dropped waist and full skirt, and reserve any detail for the lower part of your dress. OR if you want to show off your full chest that a sweetheart top (which is the heart shaped top) or scoop neckline. That you should steer clear of spaghetti straps, empire lines, strapless styles and ball gowns.
That if you have broad shoulders you should have thick straps.
SO basically you're looking at an A frame dress that has possibly a Sweetheart top. At any rate, you're going to need a very good corset for under so that you're not falling out of your dress. And with a good corset you can actually minimize the look of your chest.
Good Luck and Congrats!

I have a full bust as well. I tried on several dresses and A-line dresses looked best for me. But the only way you are really going to know is just go to some salons and try on some dresses. A good bridal shop will help you find something that best suits your figure. Also take a good family member or friend who will honestly help you find something that is flattering as well. Just don't take a lot of people with you, it can be more of a distraction when you do.

to narrow broad shoulders and balance out your bottom half with your top half you need to look for a halter top style with an A-line skirt. That will be the best style for you. A strapless dress will draw a line across your chest making your shoulders the focus.
You should be able to find a halter sillouette that is sleeveless....a V neckline will narrow, sweetheart will only make it wider.
Some examples...

#3 will probably de-emphisize your chest the best, but still play it up.
A little bit fuller skirt will balance things out even more.
Good Luck!

Not to be the devil's advocate here, but I have seen many large chested women wear strapless dresses beautifully. The key is a good support bra and boning in the top of the dress. I also suggest a ball gown type of dress because you want your lower half to look larger so your upper half looks more proportionate.
Good luck!

If you get yourself a decent bra, and I mean a really decent bra, go to a specialist underwear shop and be measured and ask about your options, I am sure you COULD get a bra that would enable you to wear a strapless dress. Loads of glamour models wear cleavage revealing clothes and it's all down to their underwear, a decent bra means you can wear almost anything. I would steer clear of halter neck though, or anything high neck as it will just look like you've stuffed a pillow up there. Seriously go to a really decent lingerie shop and see what they say.

No strapless, no spaghetti straps, no halter.
Choose a gown with sleeves, and a scoop or sweetheart neckline. That would be the most flattering, you won't have to worry about falling out of your dress, and you can wear decent foundation garments.

attempt on outfits that have an A-line decrease to them, with something that has a formed bodice which will define your waistline and conceal your hips. in case you're worried approximately being larger on ideal, stay far off from outfits that are empire and have the the remainder of the gown drop as we communicate down from the empire waist - from adventure with my huge boobs, it's going to look such as you're hiding watermelons in there. the only exception might desire to be a gown the place that's geared up from waist to bust, yet there's a defined exchange in fabric or beading that creates an empire waist. in spite of in case you get something with sleeves or no longer it as much as you and your variety. maximum strapless outfits could have sleeves or straps further in case you sense too uncovered. and of direction, attempt on something you think of is exceedingly. keep in mind that many times issues look great on the hanger and crappy on you, and vice versa.

I would go with a tank styled dress or dresses that have a corset styled top. Sweetheart neck lines might be good for you as well.
