I've been going to Walgreens but my doctor said they are the most expensive. He said to try Walmart or target or costco. Is the difference in prices that much? I don't have insurance so I am paying out of pocket for my prescriptions. If anyone with experience knows, I would appreciate it, thanks.

Definitely try Sams, Walmart, and Costco. They will be cheaper. ALthough I do recommend you comparison shop between the three...some drugs may be cheaper at one than the other one.

First of all you must know the there is a difference in the regulations for prescriptions and medications from country to country. In Peru I found the medicine very cheap, easly accessible and realiable when compared to the US. Peru is not as strict as the FDA is in the US, giving you access to medicines you would other wise never have. Just walk upto any pharmacy and make sure you ask to speak to a pharmacists, I'm sure they'll be able to assist you and provide you with several options as there are many to choose from. You probably won't find many American name brands, but I find the medicine more effective than in the US. You'll get more bang for your buck, the big drug companies don't have the government tied around their finger like they do in the US. Hope this helps. Many people come from abroad to buy medicine cheaply & stock up for the return home.

Wal-Mart, they have a list of over 300 generic medications for $4 for a 1 month supply.

If the medication is not on that generic list best option would be to call around and ask for prices (if you that have pharmacy on your coverage) because every pharmacy's base prices are differnt.

I may be wrong but the price of a medication is not decided by the pharmacy. A prescription should cost pretty much the same price wherever you buy it. But to help you out ask your pharmacy if they can offer you the same medication but the generic form....its like buying the same medication but instead of it having a fancy name its like a no-name brand.....but dont worry generic meds arent less effective but they are cheaper.
