What causes excessive facial bone growth in puppies?

My seven month old puppy developed what appears to be an abcess in her upper jaw and facial swelling in the cheek area. X-rays show excessive bone growth forming.

Lilbit, (that is my dog's name-lol) What kind of dog do you have?--just come back to the question and it will let you add more information. I have never heard of this condition and I look with interest to see what people say. What did the vet say? I have dachshunds and dental problems with them results in excessive bone loss - I know several other small breeds have bone loss problems too. Let us know what you find out - good luck -k-
