The treadmill is good for overall cardiovascular health and will help you stay slim in general; however, for abdominal work, you need to add something more focused like Pilates. Pilates develops your abdominal 'core', as all Pilates exercises are powered from that region. Pilates was originally designed for bed-ridden people, but later adopted by dancers...now it is accepted as a safe mainstream method for strength building and shaping. Consider Yoga also, or PiYo (the hybrid mixture of Pilates and Yoga.)

Girl, relax...you are the perfect weight..in fact your getting a lil skinny if you weigh that much...trust me my parents are high class doctors. Listen you don't have to worry about your body weight cause your body will change by the time you turn 18...for now don't worry..you don't need to lose any pounds...your pretty skinyy...get any skinnier and you might have to gain some more :P lol I'm 14, 5"2, and I wiegh 121 and I have a flat stomach with a fit thick body so if I'm skinny and you weigh 20 pounds less than me you are way skinny so don't worry ...people shouldn't judge you about how you look ;) And if you think your tummy isn't falt...do crunches...that's what I did (when I was chubby back then of course) Excersie at least 3-4 times a day and you'll be healthy. :D

PS Remember you don't have to be skinny to be attractive....don't listen to the media, that's exactly what causes anorexia.

first of all your only 13 and you weigh 100 pounds and your only 5'2, your perfect in height and weight for your age. im sure your tummy isnt so bad but if you really want to start being aware about your health and start exercising you can do some sit ups and crunches a few times a week and run on the treamill a few times a week for about 30 to 45 minutes. the main thing is that you should eat healthy. eat lots of greens like salad and broccoli and fruits. dont get hung up on the whole skinny fad nowadays just learn to love yourself the way you are, and dont let anyone or anything influence the way you think about your body. just stay healthy thats most important.

The treadmill is good for a cardio vascular and aerobic workout. It will also help reduce your weight overall.
But what you want to do is target your abs.
First of all don't do sit ups. Read the msn article and it will tell you about something called 'bicycle crunches'.
The 2nd link are some Pilates exercises. It's an effective program.
Having strong abs is great for your back, posture etc.
Best of luck!

Yeah , you shouldn't listen to the celebrities , your 13.

But a treadmill is a cardiovascular workout , which means it mainly works your heart and is good on the legs. If you want a flat stomach try doing some crunches/sit-ups and just eat healthy.

Not eating sugar or simple carbs did the trick for me. The treadmill is a good way to burn calories- start with .5 to 2 miles at a normal pace and work your way up

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter your stats and it will tell you how many calories a day you need to maintain your weight. take 300-400calories off that number and that's how much you need to lose weight.
eat 5-6 small meals a day instead of 3 big ones.
5-8 servings of fruit and vegetables a day.
8 glasses of water a day.
4-6 times a week cardio work out for 30-50min plus light weight training.
no junk food, no sodas, no white flour (white bread, pasta, cookies, cakes etc)

Exercise in general does help. But, so does eating light food instead of lots of fatty foods. For example, eat a lot of veggies, Asian food tends to be really healthy, but watch out for too much sauce. Also, to help get a flatter tummy, do crunches, and remember to work all areas of your abs, crunches only work on one.
