I know how you feel. I'm always afraid that in my zeal to do good and help, I hurt people in the process.
You've got one fact right. We are imperfect. We are bound to make mistakes that can hurt people.
But guess what? There is a God who loves you anyway. If you let Him, He can walk with you throughout your life and use you to love others in ways that only He can. And if you make a mistake, don't worry for He is bigger than any mistake.
Just do the best you can with His guidance and let Him deal with the rest.

Don't be afraid what people think if you want to help then do it. ones you do a good deed people won't focus on your down fault. No one is perfect and you must be a good person to want to help people because a real bad person won't think of helping others. Let others see the good side you might be the one to change some people around some times we have to go through things to make it a better place.
Good luck.

Hello Zeke the sad hermit. I believe that's what the web site said your name is. I want to answer your question. Because I am a Christian I will answer it from a Christian point of view. If you are not a Christian and are happy with your faith then take what I say and apply it to your faith, and of course pray to your Higher Power. If you want to become a Christian you can become one while reading this answer. If you are already a Christian then know that all of us are in the same boat. Not one of us is any good.
First off, if you want to be a Christian you can pray right now to receive Jesus into your heart. Just pray a prayer like this one. "Dear Lord Jesus, I am a sinner. I am not good. Nothing I will ever do can save me. I believe you died on the cross, you were buried, and you rose from the grave on the third day. Please come into my heart and please come into my life. I accept you as my Savior. Please help me to do good deeds now that you have saved me. In Jesus Name. Amen!" If you were genuine then you are saved.
If you already have another faith and another god then just take that prayer and pray to your god. Tell the god of your understanding that you want to do good deeds. Ask for help from your Higher Power.
Here's the good news. I am just as bad as you are. I whose answer you are reading am no better than you. Yet somehow God has helped me to write the answer to your question. It is only through God that we can do the things we do. I, too would like to do good deeds. I am in a twelve step program and want to help others. I must remember that none of us are righteous as seen in Romans 3. We all fall short as seen in Romans 3 verse 23. However, we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us as seen in Phillipians 4 verse 13. Ask God to show you where you can do good deeds. If you are sincere He will show you. I hope this helps. God bless you friend.

With all due respect, how can you help anyone unless you first learn to help yourself? You sound like a pessimistic Idealist. Stop contrasting what you believe you are, against what you believe you should be. Your potential is not yet actual, but you must realize that who you are today
is a necessary step on the path of who you are becoming tomorrow.

I don't rely on my own strength and goodness to help other people. I rely on the strength and goodness that I have through Jesus Christ. "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." The more I pray, study the Bible, and walk with God, the greater desire I have to love and care for others and to live a life "worthy of the calling" to which I've been called. I find that if I let myself grow distant from God, I tend to focus on myself and my own needs and neglect the needs of others.

use your own experiences as your testimony to others to help others. you can only do the best you can, the more you do God's work the stronger you become..not so much the better but the stronger..I use my past to help others who are or have gone through the things I have gone through, it don't make me a better person but am alot stronger than I was before..You will get better but only cause God does the work in your life..

Remember the wisdom of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets: it's not your inherent qualities that make you who you are, but your choices.
Do the best you can, with your whole heart.

If you live that much in fear you will never accomplish anything. So what if your good deeds aren't perfect? Do what you can for mankind.
