I think the best way is for you to start an environmental or conservation club at your school. You will need a teacher to be a faculty sponsor for your club. Find interested and like minded students and you will have the power of numbers. Fully research the idea before you discuss it with your principal come up with answers to the common problems.
How will we get the material to a recycling facility? If your city does not provide pick up, will volunteers transport the material? How often? Does the facility require recycled materials be washed thouroughly? Who will do the washing? Will holding the recycled items create insect problems? Depending on where you live you could be opening a big can of worms for the school administration. Don't be discouraged but use your club to get your ideas out further in the community, perhaps there are organizations that can help you. If you have recyclable materials can you take them home to recycle?
Until your big changes are made..you can learn and spread the word about how to recycle at home and conserve other resources like water, soil, try composting and ask permission for a flower bed to take charge of...many good projects.

You can't and won't. You are asking the wrong person. And your 'ideas' may have already been tried, and maybe have failed. Sometimes young kids DO have some good, original ideas, and may be worth listening to, but not by the principal. Write them down and rethink them. Do some research to see if they have been used before. Ask your teachers and elders. You might find you're not as smart as you think you are. Or the opposite could be true, too.

I guess you are going to have to convince the student council first. If you can't convince anyone your recycling program is a good idea, maybe it isn't. Have you done a cost-benefit analysis? If the school can't afford you are going to have to come up with the money to fund it. Good intentions don't always make good business. If you don't learn anything else in highschool, learn that!

Make a list of the plus side and the negative side and really brainstorm. When I was in school we had to do these types of projects for a grade maybe you could talk to a teacher and you could get everyone to help or maybe you could start a school club etc use your imagination the possibilities are endless and don't ever give up on what is important to you!

i would start with the pto/pta .or your family. it cant hurt to talk to a principal, but he /she might be busy and not want to "waste time" on this idea. however.. i dont agree that the idea needs to come from an adult. the boy scouts need to do an eagle project and thats when this seems like it would be .though you are not really old enough to be at the level for that. maybe start by contacting an organization t.hat will help

you could write a letter to him but make it formal or you could go to your school council reps and ask them to bring it up at the next meeting or speak to your head of year and try and get them to arrange a meeting or to pass them message on i think that the best idea would be to make a business proposal and give it to your Principal let him no how you feel about recycling please get back to tell me know how you get on.

Tell a couple of your teachers your plan, then ask them to help you. A adult will listen to other adults, that is probably the best way to do it.

Prinicipals don't listen. I would take some freinds or a teach that supports your idea.
