she didn't give you much to work with. check with other family members and see if they are willing to help with the food like a pot-luck thing. Will take some of the expense and burden off of you. I supposes it's nice that she trusts you so much but I hope that in the end she appreciates what you have done--some people hate to do the work but love to complain about the work that was done by someone else. Decorations can be bought at a dollar store--with a little imagination you can create some neat things. Buy glass desserts bowls, and have floating candles in them for example. Good luck to you.

I don't think there is such as thing as a cheap dinner party (not a wedding type one, anyway). $300 is not enough at all, especially if you want an actual wedding cake. That alone will be over $300. If there are only going to be a few people, you might be able to do it, with an informal cake and some finger food, but i highly doubt it. Personally, i would have said no.

might desire to you in basic terms have a private ceremony, with you 2 and the minister and a witness, whom you do no longer even might desire to comprehend, and then carry a reception luncheon or dinner on yet another day, for friends and kinfolk and her? That way, she would be in a position to't injury your special occasion, because of fact your wedding ceremony could have been private, and the stress may well be off, for the reason which you're married already with the help of the time you will possibly desire to stand her. And good success on your marriage. don't be terrified of her, stand up to her while the region demands it, and enable your husband decrease back you up. undesirable dude is caught interior the middle so stroll far off from fights in case you may. ideal of success back, to the two considered one of you.

Three hundred dollars, man your mil is doing it on the cheap. Take her to city hall, have a jp do the ceremony and order in chinese food or finger foods or a couple of foot long subs.

And your husband's position on this is?

I would first ask her what type of wedding would she like and or expect to have? I would then see if this big $300. is going to cover it. Sounds like pending on people you will be having cake and coffee

$300???? Your MIL is sadly out of touch with what things cost! My daughters christening luncheon cost more than that EASILY! (We fed 35 people a brunch buffet with cake)

Plan everything one color...maybe her favorite color?...that way everything flows. As for something cheesy? I have no ideas for you there...sorry!

Good Luck!

Christ! What a cheapass. Hope it's a small crowd. Buy your food and cake at a warehouse club.
