Because this is Earth and we're still not perfect.
Some fear the unknown. Some fear leaving some things behind (ranging from candy and ice cream to loved ones) because they're still kind of attached to this earth.
Forgive me if I disagree slightly with what ideally our worst fear should be. After all. we haven't been given a spirit of fear but of love, power and sound mind.
Not serving God enough? You can't anyway no matter how hard you try. That's the beauty of it.
There isn't a heaven? Then God is lying, isn't He? And while all of us have different views, we all hope sometime or other for a better place than Earth. Why would we yearn for such a thing if it didn't exist?
In the end, God is love. Love casts out all fear.
The only thing we should fear is God Himself, but not as an ant would fear, say, a giant. But as a child would his loving Father, with awe and respect, not loathing and doubt.

Your right. It would be confusing for a Christian's biggest fear to be death. Mainly because Jesus conquered death for us. Through faith, we have eternal life with him, the Father and all other servants. Christian's shouldn't fear suffering. It comes with the territory (love). And the only real approval we need is the Father's. The best words you can here in heaven are:
"Well done, good and faithful servant".
But, I think a Christian's REAL biggest fear is to get to heaven and not be able to find their loved-ones, because they didn't believe.
Think about how that would feel.

You can probably relate to that fact that the most of the people do have some sort of fears about death.
It is a mistake to believe that once you have accepted Jesus, that suddenly we are freed from all the fears. God has promised eternity to us, and He keep His promises.
I actually do not like it very much when people write this kind of stuff like you. We are all humans, only Jesus was perfect and when He was in human form, He was fearful too. But God says over 500 times in the Bible that " Fear not" or " Do not be afraid"...He knows that we tend to fear.

I am a Christian, and I'm not afraid of death. I had cancer and had to face that question and realized then that I could leave now with no regrets if God chose to take me.
Why should Christians fear burning in hell for all eternity? "I have been crucified with Christ and it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me." In Christ I am declared righteous. There is no requirement that I be "good enough" since I rely not on my own goodness, but on salvation through the shed blood of Jesus Christ.
I have no doubt that when I die I will go to be with Jesus. "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord." The Holy Spirit himself confirms this within my heart, so that I do not doubt or worry about eternity.
My greatest fear is actually for others who reject salvation through Jesus Christ and will spend eternity separated from God. Second to that, I know that life can be hard, and being a rational human being, I don't seek out or desire pain and suffering, still I know from past experience that God is all I need. He is "the All-Sufficient One" and will carry me through anything I have to face. So I guess I'm not really afraid, probably because "perfect love casts out all fear."

I do not fear death at all! I have a better life waiting for me after death! I have no fear of burning in hell at all. There is no doubt in my mind! I am going to heaven and what a wonderful day that will be!

I am a Christian and I don't fear death nor do I fear going to heaven. Where did you get the idea that we did. Nothing could be further from the truth. I don't know any Christians that fear heaven - why would they? Read the bible, we have everything to look forward too.

Its a human feeling thing to fear death. Leave our loved ones behind. Its a scary thought as you would probably agree. Though you wont hear a christian saying that they are afraid of what happens after death. We believe in life after death, living an eternal life with God.

We were not created to die. Most of us do not want to die. We die because of inherited sin, the disobedience of the first human couple who made Satan their God when they disobeyed their Heavenly Father, Yahweh God. Genesis 2: 16, 17. Gen 3: 1-7.
The prospect of going to heaven was never held out to Adam or Eve before or after they sinned against God.
We were created to live forever, humans on the earth and spirits in the heavens. The real life, everlasting life, will be given to those worthy ones after Armageddon.

There is always a little doubt in the unknown. Lots of people i know do not fear death at all because of their belief. There is a huge leap of faith one has to take to completely be unafraid to fall into the darkness. Everyone has different views of death and all are very personal.

No Such thing as going to Heaven when you die.
John 3:13 - No one has ascended into heaven except he who descended from heaven, the Son of Man.
Death and the Grave are where we are in a sleep like state but have no conscience thought. Waiting to be brought back to life if we have followed Jesus teachings.
Jesus said to the apostles, John 11:11 - Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep.
