I have a 4 month old male Pekingese puppy. I have tried everything I can think of to housetrain him. Tried scented puppy training pads (which he was going on when we got him.)
After we got him home he refused to go on them, even if we fenced him in a small area covered completely with them. He would only go when placed back in his crate. We tried taking away the crate and leaving him in the small fenced off area in our kitchen most of the time. He held it so long that he got a bad infection that made him dribble urine constantly. He needed 2 weeks of treatment at the vet hospital to get over it.
Once home again, he refused to go on the pads, finally, he'd
dig through them and go on the floor underneath.
So, I tried newspaper instead. Same result.
We've tried watching for circling & sniffing but he wont go if we hold him where we want him to potty.
Also, now, if he is picked up he will pee and crap on whom ever picks him up, even if he has just went. Advice please ?

Make sure the crate you have is only big enough for him to stand up, turn around and lie down in.

Make sure he is on a 3 time a day feeding schedule, take him out (to the same spot each time) after meals. When he begins to urinate/deficate, say out loud, "go pee" or "go poop" (or whatever choice workds you may prefer). After he goes, praise him like hell and bring him directly back into the house (supervised).

In between meals, bring him out to potty every 2 hours...if he goes, do what I said above (praise and being him right back in). If he doesn't go within 5-10 mins, bring him in and put him in his crate (Never as a punishment though), always make sure the crate is a positive thing. After about 15-30 mins in the crate, take him out and try again.Don't give him the chance to go inside the house. Even when he does use the bathroom outside, when you bring him back in, keep him by your side at all times.

The moral is, praise the good and ignore the bad. Don't scold him when he goes in the house and don't clean it up in front of him.

Don't give him a chance to go in the house; remember, outside after meals, as soon as you see him going, say "go pee/poop", bring him right back in. You want him to realize going outside is just to use the bathroom, not to play. If he goes outside, he can have supervised play inside out of the crate. If not, in the crate he goes and try again in 15-30 mins.

Good luck, I hope this helps! It worked for my dog.

I have a female pekingese...she use to do something similar to your dog. She would pee outside and then come straight into the house and pee on the couch. Use to drive me crazy. She also had a bad habit of peeing in her crate. I contacted our vet...he said don't put her in to big of a create cause if you put them in a smaller crate they are less likely to pee in it. You might want to train him to go outside instead of inside on paper. Maybe he's getting confused?

pekes are VERY STUBBORN!!!! he is not going outside because he DOES NOT WANT TO!!!

try and figure out why he is so mad -

when i was single and dating, my peke was sweet as pie to any would be suiters. the next morning however, there would be a poopie pie outside of my bedroom door - if he did not like something my room mate did, he pooped outside of her door - fortunately for my husband, he did not poop outside the door and hence i kept him (the guy, not the dog!)

he needs to find his own place - perhaps he is just still a bit mad that his regular routine was messed up -

praise and puppy treats also work - our boys (we have 3 pekes and 1 boston terrier) do not get a treat when they come inside unless they went potty
