As I said, many people have told me that I have a great singing voice, I just can't seem to get over stage fright and that people might make fun of me because I hit a wrong note. Help!

I would go to an place or party that has karaoke. Even though you are up in front of people, it is very relaxed and informal, and you can stare at the screen at first. Do it many times and you will see that the more you do it, you'll get more confident, and it won't be so scary to look out at the crowd. Also, do other activities that require you to stand up and speak in front of a group of people, whether that is doing a reading at church, joining Toastmasters, speaking at a school club, whatever. The key with stage fright is that with practice, it starts to melt away.

Also, I remind myself that fear is a very similar sensation in my body to excitement. If you think about it, they are hard to tell apart! So when I feel afraid, I feel it totally, and realize it is the same as excitement, and tell myself I am excited. Then, I put a positive spin on it! Who doesn't want to feel excited?!

Lastly, if anyone made fun of you if you hit a wrong note, you could certainly spin around and say, "At least I had the guts to go up there and sing in front of all these folks while you were warming the chair with your butt!" Really though, people tend not to challenge people that step out in front of a crowd, cos they know that to criticize they'd have to do it themselves!

Good luck and have fun!

Two ways to get over it. One, do it, over and over and over and over. It's the same with public speaking. You get used to it and your confidence grows. Two, you have to know yourself that you have a good voice. Few people are born with it; most have to develop it. The way you don't hit bad notes is by practicing. If you aren't sure how good you are do two things: 1) record yourself, preferably with decent quality digital equipment, and 2) take a few voice lessons from a professional, not just someone who you think sings well.

You have to learn to listen to yourself. I determined that I was going to have good strong pitch and not ever sing off key. So I focussed very hard on matching my pitch to the key for about a year straight. I sang probably an hour or so a day, with a band. Now, I don't have to worry about it. I can focus on other aspects, like tone and strengthening my higher notes.

And if you hit the wrong note never ever stop singing if you do that is when you get laughed at try your best and please answer my question.

it's tuogh ... in my first recital at 16 I got the genders of the man and women wrong in the song--and the voice coach stopped me and corrected me in front of everybody! What a scar ... Recognize your scars ... your fears ... then absolutely forget them. All you need to rmember is this: you are at home singing in the bathroom and nobody is even listening let alone watching you! And even if they were--90 % of the audience is there for enjoyment--not to boo you. The booer's are the loosers ;)

Close your eyes and just sing into the microphone.

If you practice the song and you are a good singer, you won't hit any wrong notes.
