Mine was Windows 98. I had the most fun, and got in the most trouble, on Windows 98. It seemed like the last "real/classic" Windows for just having fun. Windows 2000 was aimed for businesses and work... (most businesses still use it), and Windows XP seemed like a "joke release" just to buy Microsoft more time to work on their next REAL release... (which ended up being true). Vista is great. It really "feels" like a Windows that I can just hang-out on.

But yeah, 98's the most nostalgic and memorable for me.

(Windows 3.1 wasn't bad either...remember "Lemmings" and all those games for that? Hehe)

Gott go with you on that one, 98 let you do all the old DOS gaming and all the new stuff too. I actually had to make a 98 machine so I could play all the classic stuff I've got. XP stinks at that!!

Honestly, I like Windows XP the best. So far, it's been the most stable and reliable of them all for me.

As long as you aren't a software pirate, and you refuse to download "WGA Notification" from Windows Updates, you don't have to worry about activating more than once.

At this point, you are free - It runs all the coolest games and all the neatest open source apps, without a hitch. Additionally, if you have the right anti-malware tools set up, and you are careful on what you download, you are OK security-wise.

In terms of older games, you should download DosBox (google it). It's a DOS emulator that should be able to run all of your DOS games better than XP.

Windows 98 SE was my favorite. Windows ME was not the worst but not as good as 98SE. XP complicated things a bit but gave lots more control through Administrative Tools. 2000 Professional felt more stable but its speed degrades quickly.

All of them were good except for Windows ME.

From 95 to XP, there were only skin changes.
Now it's a complete change. that's why Vista takes a lot of space in the HD because it's a total different OS software

Windows 2000. It was their most stable release, and didn't have that goddamn online verification.
