I have a deep fear of flying so I understand where your coming from. Regardless of what means of transportation, there is always tension before a trip. Using lists will ease the days before the trip and utilizing deep breathing techniques during the toughest parts of the trip help. For me, take off and landing of the plane has put me in tears more than once. I close my eyes and breath deeply, hold myself or my husbands hand and imagine my daughters face.
Travel can be fun, just those few moments of stress aren't fun so focus on the good stuff.

Do the following to make your trip less stressful:
(1) Pack light.
(2) Allow yourself adequate time to get to the airport and through check-in, security. You'll feel better if you don't have to rush.
(3) Pack cd player or Ipod with lots of music.
(4) Take a good book or magazines to read.
(5) Wear comfortable clothes
(6) Take in carry on bag: candy, or nuts to munch on, medicine if needed.
(7) If possible speak to the pilots before take-off and explain your fears. Express your concerns to the flight attendants as well.
Remember that air travel is much safer than most people think.
Happy travelling!!

Think about it this way...would you feel better if you stayed home and didn't go on the trip at all?? Probably not, because you would be missing out on the destination. Trust me...it's always worth it when you get there.

Have everything planned out before you go. It'll ease the tension, and dont fret if everything doesnt happen just as planned...
but if you have some sort of plan before you leave, it will definately help you out.
