These two parables teach the same truth: The kingdom is of such great value that one should be willing to give up all one has in order to gain it. Jesus did not imply that one could purchase the kingdom with money or good deeds. "Treasure hidden in a field" , In ancient times was common to hide treasure in the ground since there where no banks- though there where " bankers" We can not get to heaven by our deeds. We get there by accepting Jesus as our savior and what he did by way of the cross. Then we want to do good deeds as acts of service for what he did for us.

What He is saying is that Heaven is more precious than anything you have here on Earth..it is worth all you have....so if it means giving up all that you thought had value in order to follow Him and secure a place in Heaven it is worth it. Jesus is the Pearl and the Treasure....if you find Him, put Him before everything else you hold dear....What causes Him to say it?...He loves you and wants you to hear.

Actually your question is not clear cut. But Jesus told the parables because as he said, "The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, but not to them. If this is not the answer you're looking for then it might help to rephrase your question.

Google blueletterbible. Go to verse. Click the L on the left then read the available commentaries by biblical scholars. My favorite is Chuck Smith.

Because to become a disciple of Jesus requires work at obtaining accurate knowledge and deep appreciation for what is being heard by the listener.
It also requires commitment to stick with it and to continue to make adjustments in ones life to qualify for ever lasting life.

We are that pearl that Jesus talks about and he gave all he had through dying on the cross so we could be redeemed.
He gave all that he had so we can be saved.
