is it true that when you wax an area (any area) that the hair there will grow back finer and lighter in colour, or may not even completely come back? or do the wax brands just say that to get you to buy it? does the hair ever come back thicker and blacker and more of it?

The whole difference between shaving and waxing is one big myth. Shaving does NOT make hair thicker in reality. Normally, a strand of hair is thick everywhere but at the end, where it thins out into a sort of needle tip. When you shave, you cut this tip off, making the hair sppear thicker. Also, since the hair is strouter, it appears thicker as well. Its the same thing as how a tall person is skinny but if a short person is the same width then they are fat. The hair appears darker because when you shave, you reveal the inner layer of your hair, which has not been lightened by the sun. therefore, shaving being bad is just a big myth. Once the hair grows to normal length, it will be the same as always.

Waxing making hair thin is a big myth too. Instead of cutting off hair tips, it pulls hair from the root, so you never actually see the strand of hair thick and without a tip. When it does grow back, it has a tip, so most people think that it is thinner. It is exactly the same as before. However, i assure you that the hair will not come back thicker or darker.

If you want advice on whether to shave or wax...the truth is that it really depends on your lifestyle. Waxing is more of a one-time thing- you might need to get it done about 3 times over the summer. Its good for people who are always on the go and don't have extra time to spend shaving. Waxing does make your legs smoother too, because hair is gone from the root. However, it is painful, so if you do have the time, you may want to try shaving as an alternative. also, if you don't like the idea of either, they have great stuff these days like Nairs, which doesn't remove hair completely below the root but below the skin and is virtually painless. I'v ebeen using it and it works great. I hope this helps. Good luck!

I have been waxing for a few years now and the hair definately comes back thinner and lighter. I even have areas where the hair doesn't grow anymore. But this result will depend on how thick and dark your hair is at the moment, but the more you wax the better it will get.

My uncle's ex-wife use to wax his face when they were together and even he has bald spots on his face, he rarely needs to shave.

Just don't give in to temptationto shave between waxes or you will go back to square one and the hair will come back thicker, darker and faster.

I think waxing is just like tweezing..i'm guessing it'll grow back the same..but when you shave that's when they come out thicker and blacker...i heard it's because when you shave you cut you're hairs in a slant..therefore there is a slant at the tip of each of your hairs now..and that's why they come out thicker and blacker when you shave
