Black Heads
Effective methods for removing Blackheads:
It is most important to keep the skin scrupulously clean.

1. Use an oatmeal or almond mask thoroughly to cleanse your face. Mix either oatmeal or almond powder with enough rose water to make a soft paste that spreads easily on the skin. Rub it on your skin with your fingertips, paying special attention the problem areas. Leave to dry for about 15 minutes and then rinse off with cold water.

2. Apply undiluted lemon juice, two to three times a day, on the affected areas.

3. A solution made out of one and a half cups of hot water and half a tablespoon of boric powder is an ideal concoction for blackheads, Saturate a face napkin in this hot solution and press on to the skin, repeat twice. Extract blackheads carefully with a blackhead remover and sterilized cotton wool. Pat on an astringent.

4. Warm a little honey and apply on the trouble spots. Wash off after 10-15 minutes.

Acne/Pimples
To dry out pimples overnight , try using toothpaste (not gel) directly on the pimple. Egg whites also work in the same manner and make a great face mask.

So your zit is red, try using a little hydrocortisone cream directly on the zit.

Bathing
Below are bathing tips that you can benefit from

* You should not use a wash cloth on delicate areas, especially in the mucous membranes.
* You should use medium-warm water in the shower. The cooler the better, but not too cold.
* You should use Dove Unscented or Basis for Sensitive Skin on your body and either a soap free cleanser or nothing at all on mucous membranes, if you have normal skin.
* You should use then use a deodorant soap such as Dial, Safeguard, or Lever 2000 on any part of your body that tends to be oily – usually the back or chest, if you have oily skin.
* You should skin a shower as often as you can. This may not seem like appealing advice but the more time you have in between the showers, the better. Skip a shower for a whole day once or twice a week, especially in the winter. Allow your skin to produce and maintain its natural oils.

Gets rid of pimples overnight. I call it Ambers emergency recipe haha

Soak up a cotton ball with hydrogen peroxide and hold on your blemish for about 10 sec. Then get a washcloth, wet it with warm water, and hold on the blemish for about a minute. Then get a piece of ice(I put it in a zip lock baggy) and hold on the blemish for a minute more. Go back to the beginning and repeat the 3 steps several times, and just before you go to bed, finish with the 1st step.

This basically drys up the pimple(peroxide), reduces swelling(warmth from the wash cloth) and closes the pour to new bacteria while again reducing redness and swelling(ice).

In the morning, follow up by doing the ice, but don't hold it on too long or your skin could get red. Dab on some concealer and you will be looking flawless:)

I use Mary Kay Microdermabrasion twice a week in conjunction with my regular skin care routine. It's a fabulous treatment that is equivalent to having it done at the dermatologist office. Except that you can do it at home for a fraction of the cost. Check out the product at: www.marykay.com/krystihumphryes
