You have to accept the difficult things in life as well as the easy things. Or you have to accept the times in life when the road ahead is twisted and unclear as well as the times when the road ahead is easy to discern and clear. Both are a part of life.

"You've got to take the crookeds with the straights."
It means you've got to take the good and the bad.
The dark with the light, the good with the evil.
Not one or the other... they all come in pairs, and everything won't always be what you want. There will always be a little rain with your sunshine.

It's talking about the choices we make in life--the paths we walk. Some paths are crooked (not easy to follow, difficult to see through) and some are straight (easy to maneuver). We have to accept the circumstances in which we find ourselves and then do whatever we need to do to take the next steps on our journey of life.
