Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson, and Billy Graham... There was a time that all these men really did represent God's Word in word and deed. That's not true anymore.
Jerry Falwell received a honorary PhD from TN Temple. Considering some of the comments he has made over the years, and I know of people who attend there and they all agree, TN Temple regrets giving it to him. But since TN Temple is now more into humanism than into the Word of God, they probably don't care anymore.
To the people who are Christians here, if you ever get the chance, read a book titled "Billy Graham and His Friends," by Dr. Cathy Burns

There are times when I am disheartened with things Jerry Falwell has said. There are things that should not be said outside of a group of a common belief.
You would have thought that his comment that God does not hear the prayer of Jews would have taught him to be silent on certain things. It is OK for him to think this, but it is not OK for him to give religious positions that are this controversial in a public forum where it is heard by people of all faiths or no faith.
Personally, in the case of God not hearing the prayer of the Jews I disagree whole-heartedly. I don't think God has given up on the Jews just because they have given up on Him.
Jerry would not have become as rich being the preacher of the Thomas Road Baptist Church in Lynchburg VA. It was his work in establishing the moral majority that has made him popular outside the church and made him among the rich.
However, Jerry's heart is right and he means well. He just keeps his foot in his mouth. So did the Apostle Peter.

As a math teacher, I am used to looking at averages. For every Jerry Falwell type, there is someone at the complete opposite of the spectrum so I guess our country's average is okay.
Or you can think of it like the olympic scoring where they throw out the high and low scores then average the rest. Jerry Falwell is definitely one to be thrown out.
Finally, if it were not for Jerry Falwell and the like, we would only have reruns for entertainment.

No. That is what the US is supposed to be about, freedom. But I do find it disturbing that him and his ilk are multi-million dollar con-men, instead of standing on the corner in Time Square with a billboard that says "the End IS NEAR!" and begging for spare change.

I'm a born again, bible believing Christian and I don't like this man at all. I think he is a terrible "ambassador" for Jesus. The bible tells us to always speak God's word in humility and with respect. I don't see him doing this. There are others who also need a little "tweaking" in the way they communicate the word of God.
With a prayer to God for forgiveness for my saying this against another Christian, I pray these people who are so arrogant in their speaking pray more....and talk less!
