which states raises the most taxes... colorado? alabama?

since colorado's school system is much better than that of alabama's

California's taxes are higher than Colorado and Alabama and our schools are probably worse than both Colorado and Alabama. There are a number of factors, the percentage of students whose first language is not English, the general education level of the population, the number of other programs that the state funds, just to name a few, and not least how the state funds its schools, meaning from general funds, only from property taxes, which favors cities with more valuable homes, or some other means.
