I think you may have it wrong as to the cat's age, one year for a cat equals 7 human years, so the cat would only be a bit over year, so that would make the cat just out of being a kitten. Not sure how you figured the age. But,no matter, what it sounds like is that the cat is not getting enough attention. It needs to be played with more. It's bored. Someone, either you or your sister has to take the time to spend with the cat. Get some new cat treats, some catnip, maybe some loose catnip for the cat to eat, that usually perks up a cat. Try taking a belt and running around the house with it and see if the cat will follow.. I know in my house that is a number one treat. A cat is not just furniture, it has to be played with,it has to know it is loved. It can sense when it is being ignored. please talk to your sister and help her and the cat out.

Like everyone else, I would try showing it more attention and playing with it. If the cat's mood doesn't change, you might have a vet check it out for an underlying health problem. I have a 17 y/o cat that did almost the same thing simply because she didn't feel well. A couple of blood tests later and the vet determined that she had a thyroid problem and put her on medication. She's now a much happier and lively kitty because of it.

Everytime one of my cats would look mopey, I would immediately pick them up and shower them with attention: play, treat, grooming, ot just plain petting and soothing and "hangin out" together. Perhaps yur sister's cat will benefit from some fussing and attention and play. Maybe that's why she's hangin around the computer - so she'll et noticed!

10 years isn't that old. She is still young.

Has she always been this lethargic or is this soemthing tha has just developed?

One of my cats he went through a bit of a depression. We adopted him from the SPCA in February. Right after the first christmas with him, Shadow (who happens to be licking my right now). Well in about mid January he became aloof and mopey. What I think happened is Shadow was abandoned after christmas so he was expecting us to abandon him.

The thing that helped Shadow was everytime he went to mope and be alone I wouldn't let him. Myself, and family showered him with attention and reasurance. I bought him a new collar with a canucks name tag. Its funny because after he got the new collar with name tag thing he started to strut around like he was a king. He got fresh catnip, salmon and salmon juice and lots of cuddles. Spend atleast 10 mins just petting her non-stop. It takes time, it took Shadow a month to get back to his old self. Time love and persistance.

Hope this helps.

Try giving the cat more attention, maybe it's lonely and needs someone to just show it love, compassion and care. try playing with it, gving it new toys, feeding it foods that they love, and I bet the cat won't be so down! Good luck, I hope I helped!
