Im relocating for work purposes and I need some insight on a few specifics. How long its going to take to get a visa? How much time I should set aside to actually get over there and get settled? How much money I will need to set aside for just basic travel expences and accomodations?

I'm also relocating. In fact, I'll be travel ling in a couple of months. I can tell you these facts from my own experience:

1.- The visa takes about 10 months to be granted. At least that's what it took me. I was very quick in sending them the required documents.

2.- You require about a three weeks to a month to find a suitable house, a car (you must take the test for a drivers license over there) and you must sign up for medicare, obtain your tax file number, etc. If you don't have a job waiting for you, it's a different story, because it will depend on your trade and qualifications.

3.- I'd spare like US$ 8.000 if I were you for travel, temporary accommodation, meals, etc. while you get settled, but like I've said before, this conditions varies if you arrive with a job.

I chose Melbourne by the way. Less expensive than Sydney and a very fine cultural life.

You cannot transfer from austrailia to America to paintings. A corporation has to end up they cannot discover an American for the process they usually do the entire paintings, they could ought to get the visa for you earlier than you left and that is no longer going to occur.

Airfare is about $1000, living expenses vary on which city you are going to. Sydney is expensive but a great place.
