The IFL will not let fighters elbow or kick, it seems the Gracies' can't "stand up" and fight like men over in the UFC. That's why they hellped start the IFL, because they can't beat "real fighters", like the men over in the UFC. They should start a new fight league for choking wrestlers but they'd probably still lose because "Gracie Jujitsu" is clearly inferior to every other style of mortal combat.

They should allow any technique regardless of type.
That would be awesome. That and the Gracies should look into striking. I know, it's shocking to think that actually hitting someone hurts them. Surprise Surprise.

According to my tally of the rules listed below, there are about ten (10) against strikers and four (4) against grapplers.

And that doesn't seem biased?

First off the Gracie family were the very first UFC and Pride FC champions. So there goes your theory already. Secondly the Gracie style of fighting is designed to take on thugs fighting with sticks, bats, pipes, knives, machetes, and any kind of hand-to-hand move you can imagine. They have defenses against elbows and head-buts and almost everything else. However, the real Gracie way of fighting isn't allowed in any sport fighting because it goes for the throat, the eyes and knees. These attacks would kill or injure a sport fighter and that would of course be very wrong.

On top of that the modern MMA sport fighting world has been trained specifically how to fight against the Gracie style of BJJ because they will have to face it at some point. Most MMA fighters study BJJ at least a little before getting in the ring.

Yes, the IFL is an inferior fighting sport and many modern MMA fighters can beat the Gracies. But for many years they had the top fighting art in the world beating Karate, Kung Fu, Wrestling, Tae Kwon Do, Boxing, Muy Thai and Kickboxing stars.

Umm...Didn't Royce Gracie stomp the comp in the UFC already? And that was BEFORE they had rules at all. Clearly inferior to every other style of mortal combat? Maybe the dominance of submission fighters has gone down a bit now that the tactics of other types of fighters have changed, but you cannot prove that a GJJ fighter will always lose to every-other-style fighter by sole virtue of what style they claim! Every MMA fighter has to cross-train anyway!

anyway, UFC does allow elbows to the head just not ones that go straight down. IFL has the extra rule of no elbows to the head which isn't SUCH a bad rule since elbows can cause terrible cuts very quickly and turn a bout into a bloody mess...but there's no rule against kicking a standing opponent. The rules do not favor strikers or grapplers in my opinion because you can't stomp but the ref can stand you up if you stay on the ground like a friggin turtle.
here's a cut n paste of fouls in MMA Unified Rules.

Butting with the head.
Eye gouging of any kind.
Biting.
Hair pulling.
Fish hooking.
Groin attacks of any kind.
Putting a finger into any orifice or into any cut or laceration on an opponent. (see Gouging)
Small joint manipulation.
Striking to the spine or the back of the head.
Striking downward using the point of the elbow.
Throat strikes of any kind, including, without limitation, grabbing the trachea.
Clawing, pinching or twisting the flesh.
Grabbing the clavicle.
Kicking the head of a grounded opponent.
Kneeing the head of a grounded opponent.
Stomping a grounded opponent.
Kicking to the kidney with the heel.
Spiking an opponent to the canvas on his head or neck.
Throwing an opponent out of the ring or fenced area.
Holding the shorts or gloves of an opponent.
Spitting at an opponent.
Engaging in unsportsmanlike conduct that causes an injury to an opponent.
Holding the ropes or the fence.
Using abusive language in the ring or fenced area.
Attacking an opponent on or during the break.
Attacking an opponent who is under the care of the referee.
Attacking an opponent after the bell has sounded the end of a round.
Flagrantly disregarding the instructions of the referee.
Timidity, including, without limitation, avoiding contact with an opponent, intentionally or consistently dropping the mouthpiece or faking an injury.

You see, MMA is extremely civilized compared to a good old fashioned bar brawl. This is what has made it a sport.

Gracie Jujitsu is not inferior at all, Matt Hughes beat Royces *** in the ground using submission wrestling and ground n pound. The Gracies will never be able to keep up with your modern day MMA fighter, they should stick to BJJ competitions, thats where they belong. Im not saying I could win against a Gracie, but give me enough time to become a very well rounded fighter, and I may have a better chance at it then I do now.

Elbows are a cheap way of opening a cut quickly which allows referee stoppage...not the most exciting victory. Kicks are allowed, but not to the head of a grounded opponent...which is also a cowardly tactic! Gracie Jiu Jitsu is a greatly superior form of combat! Every MMA fighter needs knowledge in it to succeed in the sport! Royce Gracie won the tournament style events at UFC 1, 2, and 4 and that was back when it was an actual style vs style competition (jiu jitsu vs boxer; kick boxing vs wrestling) so you cannot say Jiu Jitsu is an inferior combat technique! And jiu jitsu does not only consist of chokes...it involves arm locks, wrist locks, leg locks, chokes, ankles locks, and takedowns!

ah my guess would gbe adapt like they have always done your wrong rehnso gracie has won fights in K 1 ehish is all striking they can kick and pucnh but there strong pint is the ground no great fighter is stpid wnough to take away there own strength couture very often goes to the ground he is good there the gracies go to the ground there good there MMA is Mixed which means both striking and grappling so going to the ground is not a sign of weakness in any means

Let's give "Gracie Jujitsu" some respect. It's not possible to compete in MMA without at least a working knowledge of the basics of jujitsu.

PS: I'd like to see u go a round with Renzo.

To Destroyerofroy: "the Gracies should look into striking"---Look into some of Rickson and Ryan Gracies fights.
