Leaving the military can be scary. Seven years seems like a long time to let go of, but if he gets another government job, he can buy his time served in the military, which in turn give him seniority in the next job. (if he wants to be a sheriff or highway patrol for instance, and he buys his time, he'll get paid for that government job as if he'd been there for seven years already).
He might consider going to school during his last year while he makes up his mind as well. His military experience will be key, but also whatever college education he can get his hands on as well.
He may also consider doing active guard reseves down the line, that way, if it turns out he doesn't like the civilian job he chose, he can still have the military as a backup.
Good luck!

Law enforcement and Swat is was a lot of guys go into because they still want the high key type job. There is always border partrol and other federal agenicies. What i would try to get him to do would be to see is he has anything he can get a job contracting. That way you keep all your military benefits but he's techinally a civilan. Yes his job might move but he wouldn't be ordered to pcs like he would be now. They would have to pay you to get you to decide to change bases or jobs and the pay for contracting is so much more anyway. If he can't contract for a base (doing like gate gaurding or nurmeous other things) you could look into contracting companies like blackwater (which is mainly spc ops) and there is one other huge one that hires almost anyone with military training or first responder training. I think it's located out west though. I can't remember the name of it at the moment. It's like a three letter intial or something though. He defintly has options. Good luck with whatever y'all decide for your future, and thanks for the service.

Your husband's service is commendable. Six years of service to any company is alot to toss away when it comes to the retirement plan. He may consider the Navy Reserves as an option for ease of transition to civilian employment while maintaining his military career on a part-time basis. There are alot of benefits to include networking in regards to full-time job search while still working toward the already started retirement plan with the military. The Navy Reserves is offering a 24 month deferred involuntary mobilization plan to service members separating from their respective service, providing they meet all eligibility requirements and joining within 183 days of separation. I wish you both the best.

How about front line security...If he loves it he is prob good at it.
There are many corporations and wealthy individuals that employ people like that who have experience and can handle weapons. There are many magazines to use for references but most of them have that worst stigma in our country, mercenary!! I dont know of anyone under arms ie soldiers, cops, feds etc. that doesnt get paid to do their job!!
