There is no stupid answer... as long as you can explain it.

Also for the perfectionist there isn't a REAL right answer... nothing set in stone.

It's not a philosophical question, it's a physics question. And yes, there is a real right answer. Light is electromagnetic energy and scoots along at the speed of light. Darkness is insubstantial and cannot be said to scoot at any speed.

This question may have (subconsciously) very well have stemmed from the conundrum, what is the speed of Dark?"

Actually, the speed of thought is much more intriguing. It is estimated that the speed of thought is about 1000 times faster than the speed of light. Which means that for real space exploration, we must devise a space ship that will travel at the speed of thought. I have postulated this, the methods of doing this, in my book "God's Ancestors" which tries to explain how God, from an advanced Planet, could have travelled here and fine tuned us with new frontal lobes and of course the resulting abstract reasoning. -- smiles

Darkness has no substance.
It's unreflective.
Light has substance. It's physical, and has a speed.
So fast it's clocked in light years.

Light is faster because it moves. Darkness does not. Darkness disappears when light that moves gets there and is reflected certain objects.

Dark is the absence of light. When the light goes out, darkness spreads at the speed of light, so they go at the same speed.

Darkness. It's the absence of light, so it's already there.

Cheers!

There's no such thing as "darkness." Whatever isn't illuminated, is dark. There is no real question.

Dark is lack of light, so it can't move. My cat is faster than dark, and she is fat.

darkness (the absense of light) has no speed.

therefore light wins by default.
