I have a litter of kittens?

Question

Some unknown source left a litter of kittens on my doorstep.

What should I feed them? Can I give the kittens the KMR formula, have it at room temperature, and feed them through a forced plastic feed or a bottle? They are already nursing off my ear lobe.

For serious animal lovers only...no jokes please.

They look like they are a couple of weeks old.

They are loaded with fleas.

First how old are they?? eyes open? moving around on their own? If they are about 4 weeks or more try to encourage lapping up formula other wise Yes do KMR kitten formula or the like and use a little bottle. cut an X in the top so the formula comes out good. If they are little like bottle fed they will need help to evacuate themselves, I find a warm washcloth or my fingers and some gentile licking like motions will encourage the necessary movement (do it over a sink or there will be a mess). Call a local rescue for help with little kittens. I have raised them from 5 days old it just takes patience and love.

Give them the KMR no cows milk it will hurt them and if they will drink from the bottle use it just be prepared for some claws because they will massage your hand while they feed. Also be prepared to sleep with them because that is the best way to know when they are hungry. Test the temperature of the milk on your wrist just like you would a baby's bottle and this may sound gross but you may have to stimulate them to go to the bathroom by using and warm wet washcloth and wiping their bums with it. It depends on how old they are. I would feed them kitten formula if they are under 6 weeks. But under no circumstance should you force the formula down thier throat. They will get a respiratory infection and most likely will not survive from it. You should bring them to the vet

The cats should be fine witht he formula as long as they've had at least a little bit of their mothers milk. The cats need to have breast milk from a female cat at first to gain the enzymes and things needed for their growth. As long as the formula has mabye a little of that they should be fine.
