Where is a nice place to take a family vacation thats not very expensive?

From where? The flight cost will depend on where do fly from.

If you are in West coast I agree with the first answer
Las Vegas hotel are the cheapest compare to other cities

If you want to go East coast
-NewYork and Boston hotels are so expensive, not good for your budget
-Washington DC is ok, because Smithsonian museums are free, so does Wash DC Zoo and some other monumens (usually outdoor) you dont need to pay a lot for sight seeing

-Why not Florida? but dont go to disney, beach are all free, just pay the hotel Hotel are not too expensive in that area

What kind of a vacation do you want? Camping is very inexpensive. You can choose a campground near an attraction you want to see. Most your meals can be at the campground, or carried picnic style from the camp. Many campgrounds have entertainment of some sort ... movies, games, etc.

If you don't want to go for tents, you can rent campers. Some campgrounds even have cabins for rent.

In Virginia, we have state parks that have rental cabins and lodges. You can do your own cooking, and sleep in "real" beds. There is swimming, hiking, and in some, there are naturalists to lead some activities. There are lots of things to see around most of the parks ... historic, scenic, etc.

Las Vegas. It is VERY affordable and there are things that the whole family can enjoy. We can usually find hotel and flight packages for as little as 300.00 or 400.00. We go every year and each time find something new. The whole world is on one street. The Grand Canyon is a must!
