I want to get a nose piercing but I want a stud, not the circle ring. What gage should I get and do they sell nose rings that small at the piecing salon or should I bring one from home?

Does it matter which side I get pierced? My brothers tell me it lets people know if i am gay or straight. Is that true? I think that it's silly. What say you?

The will have the jewelry at the studio you go to. Most won't use jewelry that you bring in anyways. You will be able to choose between a nostril screw (stud) or a ring.
Most nostrils are pierced anywhere between 14ga and 18ga (although 18 is too small in my opinion)
It doesn't matter which side, there is no meaning attached to either. Just pick the one you like best.

most places pierce it originally with an 18 or 16 gauge stud [or ring].. and yes, most places will have a variety of starter jewelry to choose from, and you can tell your piercer that you would prefer a small stud [called a nose screw] . [it may cost a few dollars more, but its worth it to get the look you want]. good luck and enjoy your new piercing!!
also, it doesn't matter which side is pierced, the left or right has no meaning. just pick which one you would prefer or think would look better.

I'm not sure about guages, but I would recommend getting a ring, not a stud. I had a stud for the first couple months, and I caught it so many times, one time on the threads in a towel *ouch!* I got the piercer to change it to a ring, and I haven't caught it once. But it does take a few days to get used to it. They usually have one size that they use for piercings, that one should be fine. I think people a while ago used to be more concerned with what side it's on. it's personal preference. Mine is on the left, but I have seen lots of girls with it on the right.
Good luck

They generally don't pierce with a hoop anyways. It knocks around too much and it'll prolong healing.
It's generally 18g. And they ahve them at the piercing studio. Don't bring your own because they use a post that's a little bit longer than normal and bend it to fit your own nose. Also... A lot of nose rings (By rings, I'm talking about the post that you want.) that you can buy in the mall or elsewhere aren't great qualitity.

ok when you go and get pierced, shops know what gage to use its typically a 18 gage or 20 in your nose. You don't have to bring any of that because they supply the starter one.
I dont really think it matters what side you have your piercing on its whichever side you want to when you go in there.
Good Luck
