Our local pizza places have been charging $1-$3 for delivery due to the gas prices.

I round it off to the nearest $10, $15 or so, and the tip ends up being about $2-$5 for a $20 pizza.

The "proper etiquette" is 15%. But when you consider that these folks are working mostly for tips, using their own cars, paying for their own gas and upkeep, well, 15% doesn't sound like much. Add to that the fact that they are bringing food to our door in all kinds of nasty weather, and personally, 15% doesn't quite cut it.

For me, as long as the delivery shows up when it is supposed to, and the food is hot, the delivery person will get at least 20% of the order or at least $3. The nastier the weather or the more they have to carry, the higher the tip goes.

About 2 bucks usually.. and it really doesn't matter how much pizza he delivers... the 15% deal really isn't applicable in a situation like this because he is performing the exact same service whether or not you order 1 small pizza for $8 or 3 large pizzas for $45!

I would usually tip him $3 to $10 bucks. Average $5. It might seem high, because if you think about it, gas costs money. It also depends on the service, time, and person. I mean if they are nice and quick you'll usually tip more and if they take too long and are rude you'll usually tip less. It also depends on the time of day. If it's at night, I would tip more because I appreciate the time they put in to drive in the middle of the night for pizza :]

I know this sounds bad, but I basically don't have any money most of the time, so I only tip them in the winter time, $5. Which I think is pretty goof for a $10-20 order. I just feel bad that they have to go out in the snow lol.

If your order is under $15.00, I give them a minimum of $3.00 (20% of 15 bucks). If order is over $15.00 but under $20.00, I give them a minimum of $4.00. Any orders over $20.00, I apply the %15 rule as I would at a restaurant (15% of total order). I figure that 20% tips for small orders makes it more worthwhile for delivery person. **Side Note: I know some people where I live who tip higher than I do.

15%, but NEVER less than $2. Many pizza deliverers have to pay for their own gas, and pizza delivery jobs do not always pay well.
