What is a good exercise for someone with weak knees. I used to do step and regular aerobics but I can not do this now as my knees are in bad shape and suggestions for exercises I can do. I do not have a pool so water exercises are not an option
thanks

since the knee has no muscles directly associated with it you need to exercise the muscles, tendons and ligaments around it. this means strengthening both the quadriceps, hamstring and the calve. the lack of this is most likely why you occurred injury from aerobics. the combination of strength training and stretching will strengthen your weak knees.

check out the website below for exercises that you can do with the equipment that you have access to:

Try working on your upper body strength, maybe with your arms. This can help give you daily exercise, without putting so much stress on your legs and knees. Some aerobic exercises put stress on certain areas, try to aim for other locations besides on your knees. If this doesn't resolve your problems, seeking help in fitness magazines could help you. Depending on gender, looking in Men's Health and Women's Health also offers new ideas.

If you have week knees, then you should probably work out your core. Even if you think you have a pretty strong core, go but an excersise ball (inexpensive), it'll have some good core work outs that come with the ball.
