I'm not sure a lot of them have heard or seen it.

It is:
We believe in one God,
the Father, the Almighty
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
of one Being with the Father.
Through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation
he came down from heaven:
by the power of the Holy Spirit
he was born of the Virgin Mary, and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered, died and was buried.
On the third day he rose again
in fulfullment with the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of Life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son.
With the Father and the Son he is worshipped and glorified.
He has spoken through the Prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come. Amen.

which nicene creed are you referring to? id have to say, no! due to faith being an ever evolving thing. to follow a set of rules in order to call yourself christian made up by someone else is naive! thats why its always changing. faith should be based on what you, the believer feels is right! if you say you are a christian and acknowledge christ. more than likely you are a christian. if you see something there you like, take it, make it your own, later on in life you might feel differently about it. your ideas, your faith, you get to change them!

by catholic, the creed does not mean "Roman Catholic" but instead the church from all time and all places. I think most denominations accept this creed, it seems to be a longer version of the apostles creed.

Do you mean the Apostles creed? I do, because it is based on the bible.

I don't understand the need for it if we have the bible, actually. Doesn't it just reiterate what is in scripture (except for the part about the Catholic church of course!)...

Yes - and being Episcopalian, we state it out loud each week.
