US Stamp goes to 41 cents in May - How many should I buy? What if I move to another country - would I make a profit?

Buy what you need. You'd have to buy an awful lot of stamps now to hedge against future postage increases. Also, you're locking away money today on a asset that's not going to appreciate all that much.

And if you think you're screwing the USPS by buying bunches of stamps now, USPS is actually laughing at you. At least they got your money, which they can earn interest on, and the bill never fully comes due until you finally exhaust your supply of forever stamps.

It is what it is: a convenience to both the user and the USPS.

I would suggest you buy as many as you could use in a year. Stamps have been going up about 2 cents a year for the last several years. 2 from 41 would be like a 5% one year cd or 5% profit per year. you will save more in gas not having to get more, though. Shut ins and stores will gladly buy and sell stamps for .50 cents each. I would suggest you also save your pennies older than 1982 and nickles older than 1972. I'm just waiting for the day when stamps will no longer be needed some day when technology takes over the forever stamp will be the thing of the stamps letters and paying paper bills hah! i prefer email and e-pay any day of the week.
