It takes 3500 calories to gain or lose a pound.In theory, a person would have to burn off 500 calories a day more than they used. So 500 calories burned a day= a pound a week.
If someone has a great deal of weight to lose, you may lose quickly at first. I would definitely incorporate some exercise in the mix.
A healthy weight loss goal would be 1-2 lbs a week, although if someone were very overweight, it would be possible to lose it a bit faster.
I definitely think switching to a healthier breakfast is great. During the day I would suggest adding steamed veggies to lunch and dinnerto help you eat less fattening foods at other meals.The key is everything in moderation. :)

hm.. it depends on the other foods you eat at lunch, because if you eat a healthy breakfast and a unhealthy lunch, that won't do you any good.. but about 1 lb a week.. or so
