it depends on everything that you have done, when you get them on they dont hurt until like 2-3 hours afterwards. Just eat some ice cream and you will be fine and take some advil. It just depends how bad ur teeth are and what you have done that day...but over all it doesnt really "hurt" there are minor pains but they are not that bad and will go away in a couple days.

I personally think that it all depends on what you're getting done. It's not just braces, it is technique, how much pressure is applied, and extra gadgets. If I get a re-tie, which is just basically changing the bands, it doesn't hurt at all. If they change the wires, I feel a slight discomfort depending on the severity of the pressure it provides. The first day that I got them, it was unbearable, I couldn't sleep and the pain was throbbing but that's just the first week or so. You get used to it and it's worth it in the end. I just got a rotator..I think that's what it's called, it straightens out a specific tooth and it was just horrible, pain radiates tremendesly in the mouth, BUT, it goes away within days. So, it's not that bad, it's better than breaking an arm.

It hurts the first few days you have them, but tylenol takes away any pain. Then once you have your wires changed and stuff it will hurt for a day or so, but again tylenol takes care of the pain. Overall the pain isnt bad at all just annoying.

It's not horrible pain, just a little soreness. Nothing a Motrin can't take care of. The brackets can make your lips sore, too. Good luck!

i recently got them off...... i thought for me getting them off was more painful..... be sure to take Motrin before u get them on..... its going to hurt (not bad) at first... you might be lucky and they will feel weird instead of hurting..... be sure not to eat hard food i had to learn the hard way... after 6 months of me having them i thought it was ok to eat hard food .. so i bit into an apple and my brace broke... so its not going to hurt to the point ur going to cry... they will be uncomfortable at first though............. GOOD LUCK!

When you first get them your teeth get really sore, at least for a few days, then it gets better. Then every time you get them tightened theyre sore for a few hours, but it's not too bad.
