The analogy derives from an interesting metabolic quirk of amphibians, that they cannot sense slow increases or decreases in temperature. The analogy follows a classic experiment of the early 1950's whereby a frog is placed in cool water, and the temperature is very slowly increased (say 1/10 degree per minute), the frog will sit in the water until it dies from overheating (same is true if it is cooled).
How this pertains to humans, is that we cannot comprehend changes that occur over decades/centuries, (although many can't tell year to year); these changes are so slow that we refuse to accept them as they are occurring, arguing instead about timelines and missing the meat of the argument. Those arguing the loudest against climate change are those making the most $$ with the present status quo.
So, it is essentially immaterial as to whether the ocean's rise 20 feet in fifty years or in 200 years, or in 30 years. That it will do so is a given if we continue to opperate the way we are operating. Coastal lands will be inundated, millions of folks will be killed or at best displaced, and trillions of dollars will be lost.
So, if the western US has Summers of 120 degrees, and the east coast has winters of -60 degrees (as the gulf stream dies), on the Average, we had a 2 degree increase in "Continental" temperatiures.

No, because the boiling water will kill the frog but global warming will NOT kill us. Global warming may cause economic loss as we have to adapt to higher sea levels and different weather, but none of that will be fatal.
It is merely an analogy intended to say that the changes will be so slow that we will not even know it is happening. But the fact that so many people are talking about it proves him wrong.

Frog legs are fried not boiled. It's a poor analogy.
Do you know that Al Gore has become a millionaire sense leaving office. He is selling all this "green" stuff in hopes of making even more money. Are you aware he is on the board of both Google and Apple? And a major stock holder of Google. Why? Cause they invited him to purchases shares when Google went public with it's first IPO.
He's not in all this out of his duty to human kind. His motives are mostly profit orientated.

Al Gore is warming the globe with his ego. After his speech to congress, there were a lot of leading scientists on various news channels that disagreed with his extremism. He says the ocean will rise 20 feet in 32 years, they say a foot in 3 or 4 centuries. He ays we're causing all the global warming, they say yes, but they don't know how much. The sun;s output is increasing .05% every decade and Mars and Pluto are warming up also. Are we causing that ? When Gore was asked is he would pledge to reduce the power consumption in his House to that of the national average, he refused to answer. Most importantly, he has companies that will fail if you don't believe what he says.

While the analogy may be extreme, he is trying to get people to open their eyes to a serious problem of global warming. We tend to think our world will be around forever and forget that it ages too. In his case, if we don't start working on tangible things to keep our world from dying, we may be out of natural resources by 2060. The United States is on the front of trying to remedy this. Unfortunately if we do not get other countries to do their part, we might be in serious peril.

Gore's movie is sometimes over dramatic.
But even the scientists who recently criticized him believe he has it mostly right. Global warming is real, it's mostly caused by us, and it's a serious problem.
It's true few people will die in rich countries. But in poor countries already struggling to feed themselves, the damage to agriculture from global warming will cause a lot of people to die of starvation. Not all, but a lot.
