I want to be in the Coast Guard as a swimmer when i get older. Is there anyone who has experience and could tell me what its like and how much training there was. I am only 13 so i have a while to go, but its my dream.

The coast guard is the service that protects the waterways surrouding our country. Most of their activity is in the air and at sea, but not necessarily in the water, but on it.

They roam the coastal regions of the US, looking out for drug movement, illegal immigrants, terrorist activity, and the movement of any and all contraband.

The coast guard was a department of treasury, whether this is still true I can't say. It may now answer to another authority, like the navy !

The Motor Lifeboat School and The Rescue Swimmer School here at the mouth of the Columbia River are staffed with fantastic people from all walks of life. If you are going to be a rescue swimmer you will need to be strong, dedicated and have tremendous will power.
