You know, I actually had this conversation with my husband about 2 hours ago. We basically ended it with no matter what, 10 years from now, 100 years from now, 1000 years from now people will ALWAYS believe their religion is the TRUE one, leading to anger, resentment, bashing...you have seen it here in the R&S section (the results). This is how it has always been and will always be.
Now although I am set in what I believe, I still research other religions. I still ask questions. I still compare mine against theirs.
Why am I set in what I believe? I have had life experiences which prove to me that my faith and belief is real and true. I refuse to believe something just because someone told me so, I want to live it myself, experience it myself. I want to feel at peace with my choices and beliefs. I have personally experienced God's Love. He literally saved my life on more than one occasion. I can't really explain it any other way. At least not in a way that people will say "typical Christian answer." God Bless!
This is a really good question by the way!

You raised a valid point. I grew up in a freethinking/liberal environment where I could question everything my parents taught me, with that in mind you can say that your belief is somehow determined by your family/societal environments.
Now only a few can escape from that, most religions (specially the Abrahamic ones) have this mental hook
whereby you're not allowed or supposed to question this
authority, father-like figure called GOD. If you analyze closer,
they all have this "Chosen people" mindset. Which says
that they're the good ones and the others the not-so-good
ones just because they (or GOD) said so.
Now if you dare to study eastern philosophy, you won't
anywhere find this kinds of hooks, not only that, also you will
find that everybody can question anything. And may be
that's one reason these philosophies get stronger and
richer with time, because instead of ostracizing the
dissenters they just get rewarded by being including as part
of the movement.
Two instances, Buddha himself is remembered to have said,
"Do not believe anybody or anything, question everything
including me and what I am saying to you right now, go and
find the truth for your self." The Tao says too, "Do not take
anything seriously including the Tao".
peace!

faith is an man made merchandise. it is going to comprise a undeniable share of certainty and a undeniable share of flaws in basic terms as all guy-made products do. people who know might say i'm religious (i'm Islamic), that my 'faith' is Islam. yet in a feeling i don't prepare a faith consistent with say yet greater a fashion of existence. How do I coach i'm following a possible way of existence? in the quick version my answer could be because of the fact my way of existence can bypass greater tests because of the fact teachings I unquestionably have observed comprise much less contradictions than different "religions".

nothing makes my beliefs true and other religions false. my beliefs just make my life in the here and now - that much easier to deal with- and other religions that much more interesting and fun to debate with.

Because I FEEL God. And it's so real to me. The Bible is conformation of everything that I feel. And my faith is my evidence that God is real. I see Him in others, people I don't even know, but we all are common because of our belief in Christ. And believing in Him makes my life so much better. The Bible tells me that "Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. No man cometh unto the Father, but by Him." And when I trust and believe in Him, He becomes more real to me everyday. It's hard to explain, but I love Him so much.

Mine follows the Bible and is Christ centered. Any religion that adds to the Bible is false. The Bible warns us of false prophets and false religions.

I am atheist (agnostic by some definitions). My beliefs are likely the most accurate because I fact-check using a method called science. And I refine my perspective when new evidence comes along.
It is the opposite of traditional religion, which says that "x" is right despite evidence and that to question "x" is heresy punishable with eternal hellfire or societal expulsion. See the difference?

MY FAITH HAS THE THREE THINGS THAT NO OTHER RELIGION HAS
1.PROPER AUTHORITY-THE SAME AUTHORITY JOHN THE BAPTIST HAD..THE AARONIC PRIESTHOOD
AS WELL AS THE SAME PRIESTHOOD PETER, JAMES AND JOHN HAD...THE MELCHIZEDEK PRIESTHOOD
2. A PROPHET WHO ACTS AS A MOUTHPIECE FOR GOD HER ON EARTH ASSURING THAT GOD'S WILL IS REVEILED....WHICH IS AS IMPORTANT TODAY AS IT WAS A THOUSAND, 2 THOUSAND YRS AGO ....AND AS OUR CHALLENGES IN LIFE CHANGE FROM THOSE IN DURING THE TIME OF CHRIST...SO DOES GOD'S WILL ACCORDINGLY..
3. MODERN DAY REVELATION AND THE PROPER AUTHORITY TO RECEIVE SUCH AUTHORITY AS WELL AS ACT IN GOD'S NAME AND TAKE CARE OF HIS CHURCH HERE ON EARTH...
WHILE EVERY CHURCH HAS A PORTION OF THE TRUTH...WITHOUT THESE 3 THINGS...THEY CANNOT HAVE THE COMPLETE GOSPEL...IT IS IMPOSSIBLE...
