All I really know is that they do a lot of ceremonial stuff, mostly in Washington DC. I'd imagine that Ft Myer is probably the only place they are, because there's not many of them.

Yes, you're right. The Old Guard is at Ft. Myers. The main gate is at Washington Blvd. There's a back gate from the Iwo Jima Memorial and there is also a side gate right there by the route 50 exit. Ft Myers is where the JCS quarter is located. That's also where the Total Army Personnel Command is located. A good jogging route will take you inside Ft Myers, through Henderson Hall and by the Pentagon's west side around Arlington National Cemetery.

They are located in DC, and are an infantry regiment. Their primary mission is acting as ceremonial guards for Arlington cemetary, as well as reenactors/living history interpretors for various activities in the capitol area. They only take the best soldiers, so it is really hard, and the work provides a lot of stress, for no other reason that the nature of the work. While I have been part of a burial at sea when I was in the Navy, I don't think I could stand doing it as a job.

I've heard it's really hard to get into, you have to have had a prefect and immaculate career. But the old gaurd is part of the 3rd infantry regiment. see this link http://www.army.mil/oldguard/index2.htm
