but a illegal only needs a green card .I spent all day getting my ss card replaced for new job and it does not even have a picture on it dr license/ss card/state insurance id card needed to start work

To complete the I-9 form, you have to show one item from List A OR one from List B and one from List C. Therefore, you only have to show two documents maximum - not three.
List B proves identity and List C proves right to work in the US. List A proves both. A passport is on List A. You would only have to use one ID if you showed that, just like the person with the green card. A driver's license is on List B and the Social Security card is on List C. That's why you would need to show both of those.
And by the way, Cartiphilus...this law was passed during father Bush's administration. So it's not just bleeding heart liberal Democrat crap.

If you knew how much it costs in total and what they put you through to get a green card it would be obvious to you. Even a passport is a Mickey mouse ID compared to a green card.
