I have a long haired cat and whenever I take her outside and let her walk around in the dirt, or grass.. I give her a quick bath afterwards..

Should I do this or let her clean herself?

Ps- She sleeps on my bed and all over my clothes

as long as she's got flea protection on I wouldn't worry about the bathing right after. unless you have a weird cat who likes to swim or roll in dirt.
the only thing with her going outside would be if the hair on the tips of her ears is real thin or if shes white. those types tend to get skin cancer and sunburn.

I hear this alot. I work at a vet.

If she doesnt mind a bath I strongly recommend it for long hair cats. We have two part persians, and one has to be bathed once a month. The persian breeder who owned their father constantly baths cats - all day. Just get a good pet shampoo and conditioner, and comb out all that long fur. Long hair cats have trouble cleaning themselves, and if they do it too much, they get furballs!

Just let her clean herself. You can wipe her paws off with a wet washcloth though. Cats are good at cleaning themselves, and in general they dont even like to get that dirty outside.

I only wash my cat once or twice a year. You can brush her to get dirt out of her fur.

That is not a good thing to do - to bathe your cat each time you take her outdoors. It simply is NOT good for the cat - it is stressful to them (will cause UTI) and dries out their coat (wil cause numerous dermatological diseases eventually).
Why not just wipe your kitty's paws and legs with kitty wipes or baby wipes. The only time one should bathe a cat is if the cat cannot clean herself or himself effectively becuase she or he is too dirty or got into something dangerous like motor oil.
My vet told me this becuase I used to bathe my cats once a month.

Or, if you are too prissy, give your kitty her own bed to sleep in so you wonlt have to share your bed with her.

how does your cat react to the bath? if she doesn't seem to mind, it's ok. my cats hate water so i never give them baths. they always clean themselves and i let them outside sometimes

No! Cats are pretty good at grooming themselves- Maybe use a damp towel, but not a bath!

If she is a long haired cat, take it from personal experience do not wash her. I washed my himalayan and it made her matt up so bad. I know have to take her to get shaved.
