You should go to the granite supplier and get samples or single tiles of colors you are considering. There are some blacks with another color in them, such as a cool brown that might look very good with your cabinets. Maybe that's what you're describing as cranberry tan/brown. Take different samples home and live with them a few days, next to the cabinets. Since you have lots of sunlight, you CAN afford to go dark, but you'll want some relief in, perhaps, stainless steel appliances in addition to the white woodwork. You can customize a wall color by playing with different formula combinations until you reach just the right tint to tie in the cabinet color, the color in the granite, and the flooring.

I would think that the dark colours would be too dark as you mentioned
as the afore writer comment on the paint a green or beige would be nice
as for the granite a nice grey with fleck of the cranberry would be nice with either one of these paints. before you do any painting etc I would take the paint samples to the granite to make sure this is what you want

I would stay with the dark black granite and your cherry cabinets. Why not use a light colour on your walls and brighten things up with bright accessories

Tan/beige granite comes with different colors inside. You can get the one that has the cherry colored swirls inside. That would be really pretty together. I love the color of the beige granites with the colors inside, they look a little more "old world" to me. You can make the color of the walls a warm gold or taupe color.

I would go with a light granite with a pinkish tint to it this would compliment the cabinets and lighten up the kitchen at the same time.

Along with stone, mud and animal parts, wood was one of the first materials worked by early humans. Microwear analysis of the Mousterian stone tools used by the Neanderthals show that many were used to work wood. The development of civilization was closely tied to the development of increasingly greater degrees of skill in working these materials.

Stay with the black, just add some under counter lighting to brighten it up.
