I was wondering...if we all have a preordained destiny then why bother to change anything. If I fail miserably in life, I can just say that it's been determined to be so. How does that work?

Not that I am a believer in this stuff, but so many people these days talk about destiny that I'm just wondering if it's a plausible option. I mean sometimes coincidences are just a little too coincidental, don't you think?

In Philosophy 101 that's called Fatalism.

For example if the Fatalist were stranded on the lake with oars in the boat..the Fatalist would say it is preordained to stay here or float to land while the Pragmatist would pick up the oars and paddle to land. If you had no oars to paddle the Fatalist would say it was pre-ordained and DO nothing but the Realist would use her hands and paddle to shore...If that ever happens to you..When you get to shore...shove the boat back out into the water let the Fatalist stay there ...... lol

Destiny is preordained but we are still given a choice. I did mention this thought in a previous answer. God has laid down all the Roads for us. That is preordainment. But the Route which we can take is in our hands. That is the Choice we have. So, if you could clearly distinguish this Roads and Routes, you will realise then how God works with us. There are only Two things which we do not have any control, birth and death. Other than that, God does give us certain level of control to choose our destiny.

We do not all have a preordained destiny. We individually create our own destiny by our actions. That makes us each responsible for what happens in our own lives. If you feel you failed miserably in life, that is because of the choices you make. You have the power to make your life as fulfilling as possible. Not to say that there wont be any bumps along the way but that is life.

It makes no sense to me at all. Our destiny is the sum of things we do have control over and things we don't. I don't believe for a millisecond that we have a "predetermined destiny". Read the serenity prayer and move on with your life accordingly. Whether you believe in God or not it makes sense. Good Luck! (IF YOU ARE SUPERSTITIOUS)

Life is what you make it. You live the life you image you live. So you have the power to shape your own destiny.

Just because GOD knows the outcome of our lives, that doesn't mean anything. We choose to be good or bad. If you take the bible seriously and bear fruits, you will go to heaven, if you do bad or ignore GOD you will probably go to hell.

And we should never stop trying.

It is like when someone asks you how to "get to a place".
So, you give'm directions.
You know the area, you know the best route and you know what is best for them to follow.

Then, they go out in the car and try to get their and blow-it!
Then, they call you back and want some more directions!
It is like that.
GOD knows the best route for each of us.
Are we agonna follow HIS plans?
Ditto...............

God knows the future, and anything that happens will ultimatly lead to God's glory, cuz God rocks!! Even though Jesus died on the cross, it lead to God's Glory when he was resurected and took the sins of everyone. i hope that helps!!!

We have a predestined 'path' presently; whether we choose to follow that path is another story!!!
