If I'm playing the pass line or come with $5 dollar bets and the casino allows double odds, what should my odds bet be if the point is a 6 or 8?
4,5,9, and 10 should just be a straight double (10$) right?

Yes you are correct. 5 dollars on the pass line with double odds on any point is 10 dollars. Remember next time you are at a casino that allows more than double odds is that when the point is 4 and 9, the odds behind HAVE to be even

For example, you're at a casino that allows 50x max odds behind. You put 5 dollars on the pass line and the point is 5. You want to put 15 behind, for 3 x odds, but it has to be 16..so that they can pay you 3-2 if the 5 hits. Just remember that one little tidbit.

Since 6 and 8 pay 6 to 5 for free odds, $10 works fine. If they allow you to put down $15 for free odds you will reduce the house edge a tiny amount.
