1corinthians 11: 7-9 " For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man. For the man is not of the woman, but the woman of the man. Neither was the man created for the woman, but the woman for the man"

That says women were created for man. Like a pet it sounds like.

Timothy 2:11- 14 " Let the women learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a women to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man,but to be in silence.

This is saying women don't have anything to offer men, men have all the smarts and women are to keep their mouths shut and learn from them.

1 Corinthians 14:34 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law.

So we are supposed to shut up at church too. This is equality? Are you kidding?
I learn from my husband, and he also learns from me. THAT's equal.

in the early church, the men were seated on on side of the church and the women were seated on the other, apparently some of the women who did not understand what was being said would yell across the church to their husband, to inquire about what was being said and what did it mean thus disrupting the service.
have you ever met a woman like that?

also in that same book, Paul says to greet certain women, who were leaders in that church.
he also ask to be remembered to priscilla and Aquila, who were traveling evangelist, at the same time and Paul.
if you will notice Priscilla is mentioned first, whether this made her the more important member of the team, I could not say, but it was common to address the leader of a group first.
also the head of the episcopal church is a woman.

Well not really. Men has his responsibility's and women have theres. The man is the head of the house, like sassinya said, created in God's image. The woman is the keeper of the home. In today's society women want to be up to the level of man and to go out and work, but that is against the Bible. I've read this book that really talks alot about that, it's called "So Much More". It basically says that the woman always has a leader. First her dad, then when she gets married the father hands his reponsibility, the daughter, over to the husband. It's hard for women to shut up and be quiet let the man take the lead, but it's just the way God put it. So what I believe is that Christianity treats men and women differently. They have there own responsibilities.

No it doesn't create each of us in equality.
One the man must love the woman as Christ loved the church.
A woman was to be a helpmate for a man, not run the house and come home and still take care of a fulltime job.
A man was to cherish the woman, consider her before himself.
Women were supposed to take care of the children and men were supposed to take care of the women, be faithful and cherish them ... this doesn't happen in most cases. I think alot of men dropped the ball... women had to pick it up ....

But no, women are not head of house... that is supposed to be the mans job.

Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law.

I can answer that one. Women werent educated in those days so naturally they would ask questions and interrupt people. It just meant that they should stay quiet during church and not interrupt and if they still didnt understand what was being taught then to wait til later and ask their husband.

Actually God honors women quite highly. Those verses you have listed are cultural. The people of the cities to whom the letters were written needed these specific instructions because of the types of women that were common in the town such as prostitutes.

The Bible tells of women prophets. Do you think God would send a message through a woman if He expected her to not speak?? It must be cultural, not universal. A woman is not to usurp authority as it says, but in my church, a woman is allowed to speak when her husband is backing her up. Women who try to take authority often are not well received. There is a trend to be overbearing and forceful in a leadership role instead of just simply leading and knowing that she is in authority. There is a place for a woman in authority, but Paul said it isn't in the church unless she is in submission to her husband. It's a touchy subject I know, but personally, I like it that way. I do not want a woman pastor. I feel that it is man's role to lead. I just like it better.

I'm surprised you didn't use this common one, but don't stop at the first part, you must read the rest of it.

Ephesians 5:22Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. 23For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. 24Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.

25Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her 26to make her holy, cleansing[b] her by the washing with water through the word, 27and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. 28In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.

I'd say that God requires much more of the men, thus, He is harder on them. A husband is required to lay down all of his own desires to serve his wife. Hmmm. I'll take the wife role any day.

#1 that was in the beginning of the centuries AD
#2 women are not "pets" complete reading and see where man shall leave his mother and a woman leave her home - she is her own entity.
#3 remember this wasnt' that long after the learning of Adam and Eve and Eve's fall from grace that also brought down adam.

life is, t hankfully grown from this and women are more learned then ever. remember a woman and man are tobe come ONE. while the woman is to "submit to her husband" the husband is to treat h is wife better then his own self.

Your reading those scriptures with a bias. To understand them fully you have to understand the culture of the time. Paul never felt women were inferior in any way. Many of the churches he visited were held in the homes of women and those women were respected. Paul's biggest message to women was not to try to be the authority in your home but to be the support and adviser. If you look at any government you'll realize the adviser needs to be informed, intelligent, thoughtful and willing to follow the decisions of the leader. Advisers are sometimes more respected than the leader.

If you read more of the Bible you'll see that men are told to love their wives and treat them with respect seven time in the New Testament. Women are only told once to respect their husbands.

We are equal, but definitely different, with different roles and purposes- God created woman for man because he saw that man NEEDED her. He was not complete without a woman to take care of him.

It depends upon which branch of Christianity you're referring to. As far as I know, the Episcopal Church, Unity, Unitarian Universalists and quite a few other denominations have female clergy, and accept women as equals.

Men and women are equal in dignity, but not the same.

Why do you cherry pick verses and take them out of context? Try reading a little further from what you quoted.

Read what the Bible says about how a man should treat his wife. It says he must be willing to die for her.
