Purina makes friskies and I have a list of foods that is not affected by the poison and friskies is on the list of good food to give to your cat. If you go to hubpages.com it will show you the foods that are ok. When you click on some of these sites they will have a letter stating that there foods are not involved in this problem. I have gone to these sites and I have seen the letters. I hope this will help you. I have a lot of these copied off so I would have it. It took me a day to find this site because I give my cat purina and I also got on the purina web site and emailed them and they emailed me back and they told me that they were not involved because they don't send their dry food out of the country. They even gave me the number for consumers affairs. I have given my cat purina cat food for 5 years and I have not had any problems.

Wet food is almost always better than dry - however, Friskies isn't something that should be fed on a regular basis. Occasionally I will give my cats a can as a 'dessert' of sorts - they go crazy for it - but it's feline junk food. There are flavor enhancers and some very strong dyes in the food, along with meat by-products and wheat glutens. If you have to buy it in an emergency, try to steer away from the Meaty Bits or the Savory Shreds (the gravy ones). They have the most wheat and colors. Especially stay away from the 'beef' one, it has a deep red dye that is very unnatural and when consumed in large quantities has been linked to some cancers. Try to get the pates like Mixed Grill.

Friskies is a brand of Purina and Purina is manufactured by Nestle who has no connection to menu foods. Your cat is fine to eat Friskies cuts and gravy canned and bagged food.

Meat of Fish should be 1st ingredient. Try to buy the higher quality foods that have complex grains (no wheat or rice or corn) Brown rice or wild rice is fine. Cats in the wild do not eat high amounts of grain....they eat meat with a little vegetation. These high grain foods for cats have been increasing over the years and thus the diabetes in cats has increased exponentially. Please, the cost you will pay extra is minimal. (Preferably the no-grain formulas are best). It seems really high, but you feed them less of it so it really isn't so bad. PLUS, I can promise you from experience that you will pay now or pay later. What does that mean? Without proper nourishment (complex carbs & High protein), your cat will get sick and quite possibly die years earlier and you will be paying all you are currently saving and MORE in vet bills and medications. If YOU ate canned soup every day for the rest of your life, do you think you'd be healthy?? Not a chance. Whatever $$ you saved would go towards your casket and a multitude of doctors/medicine beforehand. All living creatures need proper nourishment to thrive and in the long run, it's the least costly and least troublesome option. (Remember caring for a sick cat is time consuming and giving meds is frustrating...to you and the cat.)

The Nestle corporation is the manufacturer of Friskies cat food (also Feancy Feast, ProPlan and Purina).
Menu Foods may be a supplier of INGREDIENTS for their food. Large corporations making commercial pet food frequently use them for various components of their food (maybe the meat, by-product meat, maybe corn gluten, maybe soy or brewers' rice).
That's why I get my cat's food from small businesses that don't use these types of ingredients in formulating their cat food.
And my cats eat a raw home-made diet. I supply the ingredients and have maximum "quality control" over what my cats eat.

This Site Might Help You.
RE:
Does anyone know who makes Friskies cat food?
I want to make sure that it isn't Menu Foods Inc, the company that makes Iams and other foods that were recently recalled. Pets have been dying from this and I just want to make sure. Thanks in advance!

Friskies is by Purina, and I'm sure of it! I have no clue why people make brands that hurt your pets. That is terrible. Don't you agree? lol
