As far as I know, you can pick a blessed's name for a Confirmation name. There are people who've chosen the name of Blessed Miguel Pro, for instance. But do consult with a priest first.

I think you can do that. I chose a blessed as my confirmation saint, Blessed Jacinta. She was one of the three children of Fatima, Portugal, whom Our Lady appeared to in 1917. Both she and her brother Francisco were beatified in 2000 by Pope John Paul II and both of them will no doubt be canonized soon.

You don't want to pick a name of anyone who is not CERTAINLY in heaven, for reasons that should be obvious.

Stick with the program. Stick with canonized saints. You can always ask your chosen saint to intercede for the cause of the Blessed one you seem to admire.

As for me, I'd allow it. I know some kids that picked "Kateri" and she is only "Blessed Kateri" as well.

Heck - there is a church I know called "Blessed Kateri".

She should ask her Priest.
